'Are we switching?' Steve taps Robin on the shoulder. 'Or do you want to stay on the till a while longer?'
'Nuh-uh.' She shakes her head. 'I'm done with this thing. It's your turn.'
The influx of customers on this particular day is pretty tame. There aren't that many spots for people to be seated, anyhow. They are just a small little shop in Starcourt Mall, barely able to seat a dozen or so people without making the place feel too cramped. More often than not, it's full. The decor is quite eye-catchy and inviting. The tiled blue-and white floor, together with the similarly-coloured yet striped walls create quite a hypnotic trance which draws you in if you stand outside of the shop, right in front of it, under the bright Scoops Ahoy sign.
People sit down onto the red-cushioned chairs, or onto the edges of the shop, at the tables near the walls, which on the right, as you look inwards, look identical to the walls of a ship. Circular windows are bolted onto those walls. They are fogged up just a little bit, to mimic the misty seas, with bright, round lamps hanging in between, making the customers feel like a light tower is resting above their heads, calling them safely into port.
'Are you zoning out again?' Robin waves her hand in front of his face.
She pulls on his red sailor's tie. It's much longer than her own. Hers looks more like a ribbon and rests gently on her chest, right beneath her large white collar, while Steve's is much longer and reaches all the way down to the white-stripes of his navy-blue T-shirt.
'Hello?' Robin raises her voice. 'Are you daydreaming about some girl?'
'Huh? I was just looking at ... something over there.'
'Sure, captain.' She smirks. 'Just something over there. I'm sure that's how many sailors lost their lives. Some foolish scout pointed out at the fog, and said that something was there.'
'Do I look like a scout to you?'
Robin rakes her eyes up and down on him, and chortles. 'With those shorts on you? You look like nothing else.'
