A few days later, Jaiden comes into my room while I'm watching a show on my laptop. I pause it to look at him.
"Hey, JJ," I say.
"Hey. I need to talk to you."
I chuckle.
"I figured. So, what's up?"
He sits down near the edge of the bed.
"Dylan and I were hanging out and I asked where this was going."
"What did he say?"
"He doesn't know. I was okay with it when it first started but it's been like a week. I don't want to just do stuff in his room if I'm wasting my time."
I cover my mouth to hide my laugh.
"You're laughing at me?"
"I'm sorry. It's just the way you said it. I agree that it should at least go somewhere. Maybe he's still trying to accept that he isn't straight."
"Maybe but I'm in the same position. He could at least tell me about it. We're still best friends after all."
"I know. It might just be hard for him. If it wasn't, he would straight up admit how he's feeling."
"Yeah."
"Look, where do you want it to go?"
"I think it could be something. We don't have to like make a big deal of it but we could still, you know, be together."
"So, you want to be with him."
"I guess I do. Not right this second but it'd be nice to know that it could happen. I just don't like that he doesn't know what he wants."
"You should tell him that."
"I will."
"Good."
"Thanks, Amy."
"Anytime."
He smiles and leave the room. I resume watching my show. I only watch a few more minutes before I hear a knock on my door.
"Knock knock," Keri says even though the door is ajar.
I pause the show again. I move the laptop to the side and greet her.
"Hey baby. When did you get here?"
"Just now. Your mom let me in."
I give her a quick kiss. She lingers a little before she pulls away.
"What's up?" I ask.
"There wasn't much going on at home so I thought I'd come see you."
"It's the same thing here actually. That's why I'm just chilling in my room."
"Yeah but at least we're together now."
"True."
She shuts the door and we sit together on the bed. We watch an episode together while we cuddle. After it ends. we hang out for a bit then she goes home.
