Four years later.
Having a daughter is a bit challenging, especially when she takes after her father. Ammi was exactly like him, troublesome.
Fatima tried to catch Ammi to get her dressed, but Ammi wouldn't listen. She ran around the room, laughing and dodging her mother's hands. Every time Fatima got close, Ammi would slip away, refusing to stay still.
Fatima sighed, her hands on her hips. "Ammi, if you don't come here right now, we're going to be late!"
Ammi giggled, peeking out from behind a chair. "But I'm not done playing, Mama!"
"We can play later, sweetheart," Fatima coaxed, trying to keep her tone calm. "First, we need to get you dressed. You don't want to miss the fun, do you?"
Ammi hesitated, then shook her head. "No, but I want to wear the green dress."
Fatima smiled, relieved. "Alright, the green dress it is. Now, come here so I can help you put it on."
Ammi finally came over, her tiny feet padding softly on the floor. Today was a special day, Nasir and Mino were getting married. Yes, Nasir, as in Fatima's cousin, and Mino, her best friend. After all this time, he was finally settling down with Amina.
Fatima couldn't help but smile at the thought. "Let's get you ready quickly, Ammi. We can't be late for Uncle Nasir and Aunty Mino's big day."
Ammi wriggled out of Fatima's grip, her face scrunching up in defiance. "No, Mama, I want to play!"
Fatima sighed, trying to remain patient. "We'll play later, sweetheart. Right now, we need to get dressed for the wedding."
Ammi crossed her arms, stamping her little foot. "But I don't want to wear that dress!"
Fatima knelt down to Ammi's level, her voice gentle but firm. "I know, dear, but the dress is special for today. It's important to look nice for Uncle Nasir and Aunty Mino."
Ammi pouted but slowly let Fatima help her put on the dress. Fatima managed to coax a few giggles out of her as she adjusted the frilly fabric. "See, it's not so bad, right?"
Ammi hesitated, then gave a small nod. "Okay, Mama."
As Fatima finished dressing Ammi, she glanced at the clock. They were running a bit behind schedule. "Come on, let's hurry. We don't want to miss the ceremony."
They arrived at Mino's house and walked into her room, where Mino was getting her makeup done for the nikkah. Fatima couldn't help but tease Mino, recalling how Mino had playfully teased her on her own wedding day.
"You look stunning," Fatima said with a grin. "Just like you teased me on my wedding day."
Mino laughed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Oh, I remember that. Now it's my turn to be the bride!"
As the makeup artist made final touches, Mino's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and answered, "Hello?"
The limam's voice came through the phone.
Andaura auren Amina........... da Nasir........... a bisa sadaqin..... Allah Basu zaman lafiya.
When Mino heard the announcement, she was overcome with emotion. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she hugged Fatima tightly. "Thank you for being here with me," she said, her voice trembling.
Fatima hugged her back, comforting her. "Of course, Mino. It's a special day."
Mino then quickly went to perform ablution and pray, her makeup still perfectly in place despite the tears.
After Mino finished her prayers, the groom and his battalion arrived at Mino's house. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as Nasir and his entourage entered, greeted warmly by Mino's family and guests.
Nasir, dressed impeccably in his formal attire, had a wide smile on his face as he made his way through the house. The energy in the room was vibrant, with everyone eagerly awaiting the start of the ceremony.
When Nasir saw Mino, he immediately went to her and pulled her into a heartfelt hug. "You look stunning," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. Mino hugged him back tightly, her eyes glistening with tears of joy.
After their heartfelt hug, Nasir and Mino separated, smiling through their tears. They moved to a beautifully decorated corner where they posed for photos
As the photo session continued, Ammi tugged at Fatima's sleeve, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Mama, I want to take pictures with Uncle Nasir and Auntie Mino too!" she said, bouncing on her toes.
Fatima smiled and knelt down to her level. "Sweetheart, they're busy with the photos right now. Let's wait a little bit."
But Ammi wasn't having it. "No, Mama! I want to be in the pictures with Uncle Nasir and Auntie Mino!"
Mino noticed the commotion and laughed. "Alright, little one. Come here, let's get a few pictures with you."
Ammi beamed and skipped over, positioning herself between Mino and Nasir for the photos.
Nasir smiled and lifted Ammi into his arms, holding her next to Mino for the pictures. "Alright, Ammi, you're the star of the show now!"
Ammi giggled and posed happily, her small hands resting on Nasir's shoulders. Mino adjusted her veil and leaned in, making sure Ammi was included in every shot.
Fatima watched from the side, her heart full of joy at the sight of her daughter enjoying the moment.
After a few more snaps, Mino set Ammi down and hugged her gently. "You were perfect, sweetheart. Thank you for being a part of our special day."
Ammi grinned up at her. "You're welcome, Auntie Mino! I'm so happy for you and Uncle Nasir!"
Nasir chuckled and ruffled Ammi's hair. "Thanks for making our day even more special, Ammi."
Later, during the Kai Amarya, Mino was taken to her new home by her father. Mino hugged her family and friends one last time before leaving.
Her father helped her into the car and he took her to her marital house.
That night, Ammi was sitting on Muhammad's lap, making a fuss and demanding attention. Muhammad tried to calm her down, but Ammi was insistent.
Fatima watched the scene with a smile, her laughter filling the room. She found amusement in the playful struggle between Muhammad and their daughter.
Fatima watched her family with a grateful heart. She saw Ammi snuggled on Muhammad's lap, both laughing and enjoying the moment.
Fatima felt a deep sense of thankfulness. She thought about how blessed she was with a caring husband and a wonderful daughter. The love in their small family was more than she had ever dreamed.
She closed her eyes for a moment, saying a silent thank you to Allah. Looking at Muhammad and Ammi, Fatima felt a wave of peace and joy. Despite everything they had been through, they were together and happy.
Fatima whispered softly, "Thank you, Allah, for this beautiful life."
Muhammad glanced at Fatima and said, "I'm so glad we're all here together. It feels perfect."
Fatima nodded, her eyes full of emotion. "It really does. I couldn't ask for more."
