Chapter 29
-Corbin Astor-
My little sister and I have been here in Lyon, France for two weeks now living in our mother's childhood home. It's a small and charming chateau that was said to have been built during the Renaissance by our French ancestors. But despite decades of it being unoccupied, the chateau was clearly well taken care of from the inside and out.
It's not my first time being in France, I've been to Paris, Marseille, and Nice a bunch of times whenever Damion would bring us along to his trip or for vacation, but it's my first time being here in the city of Lyon and here in this chateau where my mother was born and raised. This is the city where she rose to fame being a talented pianist and this is the city where she and dad met. It's a special city for our family. And I'm happy to finally be able to visit it.
Lyon is beautiful and definitely have a more calm surroundings than Paris and it's even known as the gastronomic capital in France. But despite being in this beautiful city for two weeks now, I never quite went outside the chateau since the first time I entered. It's not because I don't want to, I really do want to go outside and explore the entire city to see all it has to offer and experience exactly why it is called the gastronomic capital, but I didn't have the heart to leave my little sister.
We all thought that being here in a new city, the city our mother lived, she could finally breathe and forget the terrible thing that happened back home even for a little while. But I think she's been worse since the first day we've been here.
She's absolutely crushed more than ever.
She's been hiding inside her room for two weeks now, she's always sitting near the window and looking outside as if expecting for someone to come, her blue eyes were filled with nothing but hurt and disbelief. Then at night, I'd always hear her crying.
It fucking broke my heart every single time. It was like torture for me to watch and listen to her as she slowly crumbled into pieces, and there was nothing I could fucking do. I tried to reach out to her and comfort her once, but she only pushed me away and cried even more not wanting to do anything with me. I can't blame her. That's what I deserved for everything I've done to her. She'll never forgive me, I know that.
Fucking Max at least was able to get a hug from her at the airport before we left.
Not me though.
I guess I was worse than Max.
But I really am worried sick for her. What she's doing was not healthy anymore for fuck's sake! She's even eating less and less now and I highly doubt that she's been getting enough sleep. I'm not even getting enough sleep myself as I'm fucking terrified every single night, terrified of what she may do to herself. So I would always make sure to check in on her. She just looks horrible.
And I know she's just going to continue destroying herself like this, not until Gabriel finally comes or she hears anything from him.
But the trouble is we have no fucking idea where the hell Gabriel Di Luca is! That guy has been missing for two weeks now, it's like he just vanished into thin air.
The last time any of us heard from him was when he messaged Mira before our flight, he promised that he'll follow her here, but after that message there's just been no trace of him, his number has also been out of reach.
And we fucking tried everything already!
Still nothing. It's like Gabriel Di Luca never existed.
Damion contacted his family in Italy and even them including his own father have no idea where he could possibly be, he also didn't tell them. His father told Damion that after his son drove him to the airport, Gabriel told him that he was going to our house to meet Mira that day of our flight so that he can go together with us. But we all know he never went to our house that day.
