chapter 7
Deep breath in,deep breath out.
Deep breath...in,deep breath out.
Deep breath IN,deep breath OUT!
DEEP BREATH IN!!DEEP BREATH OUT!!
Very slowly Anuja's breath finally evened out, falling into a rythemic pattern. She was sitting cross legged on the floor at the foot of the bed with her back facing the door. She didn't need to face the door to know if someone had entered. And right now she really didn't want to see anyone.
She felt like a ticking timebomb.Tick-tock,tick-tock.Just waiting for the countdown to hit zero and BOOM,she would explode.Only a small trigger was needed to set her off right now.She couldn't afford that. She needed some R&R to plan out a way to get the shadowdwellers off her back and get the hell out of here.
The good thing was the temple high priest had no idea who had broken into his temple or even the reason for the break-in.God,she must be turning stupid in her old age.Why did she always have to draag herself in the middle of a circus show. They could have done without the swords. But nooo, they had to do things the hard way.Especially her.Forget the shadowdwellers or even the priest who (she would bet her ass on it) was lookin for them right now, her biggest problem was King-it and the bloody answers he wanted. Not to forget the funny feeling he gave her.
Oopsie, she was not supposed to think about him.If she did then she wouldn't stop.Time to hit the brakes.
Deep breath in,deep breath out.
She nearly groaned aloud when she heard a light knock on the door.Leave me alone!if only she could project that message to whoever was outside the room.
Deep breath in,deep breath out.She ignored the knock and continued with her routine.Whoever was on the other side of the door would hopefully get the message.
A light knock again, this time just a little bit more persistant.
She was good at ignoring things. She was going to do what she was good at.Nothing less, nothing more.
A knock again, this time quite loud.
She opened her eyes slowly and took a deep breath to calm herself. She might just strangle whoever the stupid git was.
She rose up from her position and walked to the door giving herself a mental pep talk on sparing the git in question.
Opening the door she nearly went into a fit.
Anyone but him, please anyone but him!
Noah stood on the other side of the door like a veritable greek god.All manners and cordial shit.
"May i borrow some of your time,Eva?"
No.Go the hell away and stay away.
"What?"
She flinched at the snappy tone of her voice. She needed his aid and being snappy was hardly going to help her achieve that.
But she would get his help, one way or another.
"I'm sorry to have disturbed you so soon but could i have a word with you?"
He extended his hand, pointing inside the room.
"If you don't mind we could take this inside."
huh, right.Like i would want him in a room all alone with me.Recipe for disaster. But she moved aside allowing him space to move inside. She had to be nice if she wanted something out of him.but she made sure to leave the door ajar and unlocked. She could only take on this much at a time with this demon. He had changed into different clothes.A deep blue dress shirt adorned his chest now and similar trousers as before.
