The rest of the night was cold. The stone was uncomfortable; thankfully the Prince was chained close enough to the bench to lay on it. The room was not a nice place to stay at night but that was to be expected. The dungeon was quiet until they started bringing in the nobles. Then it got really loud really fast.

The Princes room was made of heavy wood with only a small cut out that was covered with bars. There was a rectangle at the top of the room the lead to the outside. That was also covered with bars. His room was at the end of the dungeon. You could not go any further. The Prince was laying on the bench looking at the stars outside.

The only thing he could do now. Just to lay on the cold wood and wait for the morning. There was a bit of orange light coming from the small window to the hallway. It mixed with the much brighter blue light that was coming out from the bigger window. An hour after his visit with the Rebel and young lord was placed in his cell.

They were clearly running out of room. The dungeon was not that big and there was several noble families and probably all the common people who were still loyal.

"Let me out of here or I will show you why you need that armor." He said banging up against the door. The guard walked away as the door would do plenty to hold the angry body that was pounding against it. He was about the same age of the Prince who has not been noticed yet.

"Talking like that will not get you released, nor will it get you any leniency." The Prince kept looking out the window at the stars. He started to wonder if he could make out any constellations.

"I don't care. They should know their place. This is totally unacceptable; they should be protecting us from these insurgence not locking us up. I can't believe the Royal family would allow any of this." The lord walked to the wall that was opposite of the door.

The Prince huffed in a laugh, "You really think the Royal family had any say in this matter?" He said with a gallows humor sense to his voice.

"I mean that I would be here. The Royals are probably escaping to one of out allies kingdoms to come back and get us. You would think they would have taken my family with them when they escaped. We were one of the closest, if not THE closest, family to them. At least they would tell the guards to put us up in one of the towers."

The Prince giggled as this other did not knowing who he was talking to. "The royal family is dead. All of them, headless. There will be no saving us." Because for the time being the Prince was living on borrowed time. He was sitting up looking at the young lord as he delivered the news. You could see the exact moment the news sunk into the other boys head.

"No, that's. That is impossible. They would have escaped. You're wrong. As soon as they heard that the barricades went down they would have gotten out of the city." The lord walked closer to the prince. The Prince stood up and took all the steps he could before the chains started pulling.

"You think I would just spout it off if it was nonsense. I saw each one of the execution. The Royal family is dead." The Prince drew up to his full high which was still a bit smaller then the other boy. The disbelief morphed into subtle anger and defiance.

"Then we need to get out of here. Or at least I shall; there is bound to be a way to get out of the city. We need to bring back up from our allies to get back the castle. Do you know what the formations outside are like? I saw they were walking in squads of five. Their wasn't many patrols so getting past should be easy enough. We need to figure out the cell door."

The lord walked over to the door to inspect the lock. That was never moving. All you had to do was remove the bolts from the hinges and the door would come off. He would have to fix that after getting out. Or at least make sure that it wasn't on any other door. It might come in handy if this thing ever happened again. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
