TALIA

Billie was like a breath of fresh air when I first met her.

My lungs only filled with the sweetness of her vanilla perfume and my eyes only seeing the brightness of her smile.

Billie Eilish is my girlfriend of 8 months. With her, everything is perfectly fine.

There's not an ounce of sadness in my body because of her.

I was struggling to figure out my sexuality because having been raised by homophobic parents, I didn't know what was wrong or right. But when I met Billie, everything changed.

Sure, I still think I'm gross for dating a girl, but that's normal, right?

The only problem is.. our relationship has to be a secret.

"Whatcha thinking about?"

"You." I smile at Billie. "Only 126 days till I'm free and can move in with you."

"You're still counting?" She laughs. "Always am." I answer.

Billie and I graduated high school recently, but I'm still 17, so as soon as I turn 18, I'm moving out and getting a place with Billie.

I won't have to worry about a single thing my parents say.

"You're adorable." Billie grins and kisses me.

The door opens and my mom comes in, making us quickly pull apart. "What are you two doing?"

"I was... seeing if my breath smelt bad. What do you think, Bil?" I ask her. "Nope, you're good, Tal." Billie replies.

"Okay, whatever. Logan's here again." My mom sighs.

Logan's the boy who lives three houses down from me. I've known him since I was little and he's always had a crush on me.

But he doesn't know I have a girlfriend, so he continuously tries to ask me out.

"One sec." I say to Billie.

I get off my bed and go downstairs. I open the door and see Logan standing there with flowers. "Fourth time this week, Logan. I'm running out of vases." I chuckle.

"Worth a try." He grins. "What do you say? One date, Talia? Please?"

"I'm sorry, but I just.. I can't." I shake my head. "Why not?" He asks.

I sigh and shut the door behind me. I sit down with him on the front porch swing and fidget with my hands.

"Look, Logan, it's nothing to do with you, it's just me." I tell him. "You're a nice guy, but you're just not my type."

"Why?"

"I have a girlfriend." I admit.

"What the fuck? Why wouldn't you tell me?" He asks angrily. "And what about your parents? They'll kill you if they f-"

"Please don't say anything. They don't know." I sigh. The angry look on his face fades to a weird smile. "I won't say a thing. See you later, Tal."

He gets off the porch and walks back down the street.

That was so weird.

I get off the swing and head back inside and up to my room. I shut the door behind me and lay back down next to Billie. "Again?" She asks, pointing to the flowers I threw on my desk. "Unfortunately." I nod. "I told him that I have a girlfriend and he was angry, but then was nice. I don't even know."

"That's strange." Billie furrows her brows. "I agree." I reply. "Whatever." I shrug. "You staying for dinner?"

"Yeah. Wanna be dessert?" She smirks. "Not tonight, dummy." I laugh. "Not with my parents home. You know they don't know how to knock."

"You really gotta teach them." Billie chuckles. "I know." I giggle. "Remember that one time you were giving me head under the blanket and my mom came in and I had to tell her it was a pillow?"

"Good times, man." She laughs. "Being sneaky is so fun."

"But it sucks. I wish I could love you as loudly and publicly as I want." I frown. She places her hand on my cheek and rubs my cheekbone. "Hey, don't frown, baby. 126 days, remember? We gotta stay strong."

"I know." I sigh. "It's just so hard."

"We got this, I promise. Together always, right?"

"Always."

"So Billie, any special boys in your life?"

My mom smirks as she takes a bite into her food. "Talia won't give that sweet Logan boy a chance. I think they'd look adorable together, don't you?"

"Definitely..." Billie answers. "But for me, there's no one special in my life right now." She shakes her head.

She then squeezes my hand under the table twice to say "I'm sorry."

I hate that she apologizes. It's not her fault.

It's my parents.

"What a shame." My dad mumbles sarcastically. "Dad, be nice." I roll my eyes. "Don't you roll your eyes at me, Talia Grace." He points his finger at me.

"Sorry, sir." I mutter.

Once we're done with our food, Billie and I excuse ourselves from the table and go upstairs. "I'm sorry, baby." Billie sighs as we sit down on the bed. "I so badly wanna be able to tell every single person that I'm dating you, but you know I-"

I grab her face and kiss her. I pull away with a smile and shake my head as I brush her hair out of her face. "Don't you dare apologize. It's not your fault whatsoever."

"But I-"

"Bil, don't." I shake my head once more. "Don't blame yourself. I'm the one who got us into this mess." I chuckle. "126 days left to go."

"126 days." She affirms.

This is going to feel like a lifetime.
