Orientation was boring. Makomo sat, twiddling with her sword as she watched the hero before her explain the situation.

"Thanks for tuning in, examinees!" He shouted. Makomo faintly recalled his name as Present Mic. "Let's start this show off with a 'hey'!"

Silence followed, and not a single sound echoed back. Makomo hid a smile behind her free hand. Present Mic stumbled upon the lack of enthusiasm, coughing before continuing.

"Well.. Well! I guess you're all just excited for the rundown, huh?" He laughed. "As stated in your applications, you'll have ten minutes to conduct a mock battle in an urban environment! You're allowed to bring whatever you want, but make sure not to hurt anybody, yeah?"

Not that she didn't already know due to her aunt's connections, but it was a relief to Makomo. She often struggled to fight without her sword. She'd been doing it for so long that it came as a second nature to her, and if she didn't have her blade, she often found her battle spirit wasn't as sharp and her senses dulled.

Her weapon was a secondary extension to her body, and a tertiary extension with her quirk. What she lacked in strength, her katana made up for in sheer destructive power. It was a comfort item of sorts, despite the havoc it could wreak.

"After this presentation, you'll head to your assigned battle centers!"

Makomo was placed in Battle Center D. She snuck a peek at the cards of those around her, not seeing anyone share her Battle Center.

"There are three types of enemies, or robots, in each battle center! Different robots give different points. There's a one-pointer, a two-pointer, and a three-pointer! Your goal is to rack up as many points as possible using your quirks, got that? 'Course, anything unheroic is prohibited!" Present Mic said.

A hand shot into the air as he finished speaking. "May I ask something?"

Present Mic jabbed a finger at the boy whose hand was raised. "The floor is yours," the hero said.

Makomo tuned out as soon as he began pointing out the imperfections of the school. 'What a stick in the mud!' She thought. They were trying to be heroes, not professional critiques. It was pointless to worry about small things. In this world, heroes stood, fighting against villains with all their strength. They didn't have time to fuss over small details, not with their lives on the line. Makomo knew this first hand.

She only began paying attention again when Present Mic began speaking about the fourth robot.

"It's worth zero points, and it's seriously huge. It's just an obstacle," he explained. "You can defeat it, but is it worth it?

Anyway, enough of that! I want to share some U.A spirit with you all! I present to you, our motto. Go Beyond, Plus Ultra!" He shouted.

With that, they were dismissed. Makomo quickly sped to her battleground, not wanting to waste precious time. She could deal with making friends when the exam was done, or when she was in class, but she couldn't afford to lose anything yet. Here, as a hero, she could find answers to return her to Mount Sagiri.

She lounged around for a bit, fiddling with her sword. It was specially crafted with her quirk in mind, thanks to her family's connections.

At the base of the sword's handle was a small spot for Makomo to channel water she gathered from her quirk into, and it would be stored within the blade, ready for her to use. Not only did it help with strengthening her quirk to her body's capabilities, but it also helped to hide her secret.

Water Breathing.

If she excused the water from her breaths as the moisture from her quirk, she was sure to be able to pass as a person with an overpowered ability. It helped to disguise her origins. Breathing Styles were even more scarce in this world than in her last, with only Makomo being able to use them. As such, she intended to keep it that way.
