I thought I was blinded but your love also brought me light. A promise I have to keep.
The relationship between Sultana Rasheeda and Jaasir was so close that one would mistaken them for mother and son. There was even a strike resemblance in their smile and eyes that Yasmine didn't fail to notice. Sitting beside her now and clasping her hands, pure love and warmth radiated from the woman that it brought a silent smile on Yasmine’s face. Sultana Rasheeda always brought a different feeling to her.
“So, how are you two doing?” Sultana Rasheeda asked, looking at the two sitting side by side while she was before Yasmine.
Yasmine glanced at Jaasir and immediately lowered her gaze.
“Alhamdulillah Youma,” he said smilingly.
Sultana Rasheeda observed Yasmine’s expression and it didn't show that she was bothered about her new home which relived her. She trusted Jassir on this.
“I know the pressure you two are facing and the future ones that are destined but now that you've decided to stay together, I have to remind you that you are a team and as a team, you need to trust one another,” she told them seriously.
She slowly took Jaasir’s hand and placed Yasmine’s hand in it, clasping them together.
“Jaasir, I know that you make decisions without procrastination but that's because you are sure about what you want. You are aware of your status in the Qanasiyya empire and despite that, you decided to bring Yasmine into your life. She has you to rely on now as you will be her guardian. Never forget that she's a responsibility to you and you have to be extra careful because your life doesn't belong to you alone now but you have others that need you. Your decisions should have them in consideration. One must have seen something they love and believe in to decide who their life partner is.”
She looked at Yasmine and continued,
“Yasmine, none of us ever wished for you to be Jaasir’s concubine but his intentions were clear and that was to make you his wife. Nevertheless, it was Allah’s plan for this to happen and we have to accept it. It's not easy accepting to be with an Amir despite knowing what life will throw at you, but with the will and hope, everything is possible.
Yasmine wouldn't have accepted to stay with you here if she hasn't accepted you. No woman will wish to be a concubine and to make the sacrifice of being one shows how much she trust herself to you. I want you to make a promise to her to never disappoint her,”
Jaasir gazed at Yasmine appreciatively. She knows of the challenges that she would face by being with him but she accepted it. If he let down, won't he be a great sinner in this dunya?
“I care about you and that's why your tears became daggers that pierce my heart. I adore you and that's why I'm selfish and want you always by my side. One might think I'm foolish to fall head over heels on a short meeting but pure love and peace is what I see from you. I'm not the perfect man out there but by Allah, I promise to be more that what you expect from me. I won't disappoint you and your sacrifice won't be in vain. I say these as your protector, your zawj and the future father of your children,” he proclaimed seriously, his eyes speaking volumes than his words.
Yasmine didn't know when a gentle smile formed on her beautiful face and it sparked more in her eyes making them glisten with their true beauty. She breathed and stated calmly, “I won't make empty promises but since I've decided to stay, I would try my best to support you. Everyone makes mistakes and I'm ready to forgive your shortcomings but please, don't ever betray me,”
