I see acquaintances when I am alive, my family sees foes after my death. True friends stay even after death.

Amir Marwan, the unfathomable second prince of the Qanasiyya empire. This was the second time Yasmine was meeting Marwan and he still gave her a chilly feeling.

“Akhi Marwan!” Samir called out energetically as ever and rushed over to him. “Salamu alaikum,” he tipped his head with a grin.

“Wa alaikumussalam Samir,” Marwan returned.

“Hehe. Have you met Akhi Jaasir’s wife?” Samir asked curiously.

Marwan turned his attention to Yasmine and she quickly greeted him too.

“I've met her already Samir. Why don't you go inside first? I want to speak with her,” he told Samir.

“Okay,” Samir nodded and waved at Yasmine before leaving. She almost called him back because she didn't want to stay alone with this scary man.

“Sayyidati Yasmine,” Marwan spoke in a low tone with his hands behind him. “Last time we met was unfavorable and now you are my brother’s concubine. Not a surprise if I may say,”

Yasmine didn't know what to say to him so she kept her silence. He still kept his distance as his eyes roamed the palace and sky before looking back down.

“The palace. So beautiful yet ugly too. Fate led you here and it seems there is no going back, especially since you are linked with the center of attention. I just have one thing to tell you,”

What would he say? Tell her to stay away from his brother? Threaten her safety here or?

“Jaasir can be reckless most of the times despite his calculations. I only want one thing and is for his life partner to be the flag that stirred his boat. We can't have two reckless drivers or it would be a disaster. And if by any chance harm comes to him directly with your hands…” he narrowed his eyes that made her shiver. “I won't sit and watch. I'm not called his shadow for nothing,”

Yasmine blinked in bewilderment. Was he supporting Jaasir of the other way around?

“If you need any help, you can reach out to me,” he added and turned to leave immediately.

Didn't he come to see his mother? Why leave without doing that? Yasmine wondered but his words lingered in her mind. Despite his cold demeanor, he seemed like someone she can trust. She took a deep breath before returning back to where Jaasir and the others were.

“Huh? Where is Akhi Marwan?” Samir asked curiously, even straining his neck when he saw Yasmine walking in alone.

“He left,” she replied and went to sit beside Jaasir.

“I see,” the smile on Sultana Rasheeda’s face faltered but she managed to keep it.

Jaasir just shook his head in amusement and said to her, “I think we should leave first so that my brother can meet his Ummi in peace,”

“I tried talking to him,” Sultana Rasheeda shrugged helplessly.

“It's okay Youma. We'll visit soon again,” Jaasir said and she stood up. She joined him and took her hands, giving them a soft kiss. “Take care,”

“Yasmine,” she smiled at Yasmine and they shared a hug before saying goodbye to Samir too. One thing about meeting nice people is the nostalgia that came with leaving them. Yasmine wished she could stay longer with Sultana Rasheeda even if it was to give her a comforting presence but it seems she can only wish.
