FRIENDS

JEONGHAN'S POV :

Seungcheol was freaking annoying. How could someone be everywhere all the time! He was always a few paces behind me. "You won't even notice I'm there," he said. Well too bad since I have been noticing! His muscular body would cast shadows over me wherever I went, it was almost suffocating.

You're acting as if you don't like it.

I don't! He's just... frustratingly attractive. I must admit though, Seungcheol's visuals were bewitching. Recently I've developed something for him. Something that I don't really understand. Could it be love? No chance. Lust? Maybe.

I feel like we've grown distant if that was even possible. Ever since that night in my bedroom it's as if he's been avoiding me. He trails behind me all day without saying a word and disappears in the middle of the night. I often wonder what goes on in that brain of his. He puts on a stony demeanour but I know there's something behind those eyes. There's a story to tell.

There was just something that irked me about him. He's hiding something.

The door slowly creaked open, revealing Seungcheol. "Master, the dukes are here." I ignored his presence, tilting my head and staring at him. He cocked his head to the side, mirroring my action. His face still blank and unreadable. Did he just mock me?

Seungcheol approached my bed with deliberate steps and stopped in front of me, placing a finger under my chin and forcing me to look at him.

Well that's new.

"Master, your friends, the dukes are here," he repeated, staring down at me. I felt suppressed, engulfed in his aura. I trembled at our proximity, heat radiated from his fingertips as they settled comfortably under my chin.

"Yes, I heard," I mumbled, turning away in embarrassment. He chuckled at my clearly flushed face and stepped back. "Good to hear." He turned around to leave, opening the door and closing it behind him.

Why the sudden change of heart? He's been nothing but unresponsive for the past few weeks but today he decides to pull a stunt. Does he know that I find him attractive?

Who wouldn't notice, you're so obvious.

I'm not obvious! I just steal glances from time to time. I mean, who could resist such tempting allure... fuck me.

I abruptly stood up from my bed and walked over to my closet, opening the doors and running my eyes across the different colours and patterns of clothes. My gaze landed on a red silk shirt. I run my fingers through the smooth fabric before pulling it out of the closet.

I slipped into the shirt, pairing it with a vest and a frock coat. Rushing out of my room, I ran out to the hallway and stumbled down the stairs, my gaze landing on a beautiful pair of doe brown eyes.

"Shua!" I ran into Joshua's embrace, sinking my face into the crook of his neck. "Everyone's outside waiting for you, they seemed to take a liking to your servant," he said, a toothy smile plastered across his face.

"Seungcheol?," I questioned. What's so interesting about him? Yes, he's handsome and bold but, he's never showed another side, leading me to believe that he's 2-dimensional.

"Yeah! At first, all the dukes tensed up at his entrance but soon became more friendly after glancing at each other, it was as if they were talking through their eyes!" Joshua expressed his concern, walking hand in hand with me towards the garden's entrance.

My heart melted when I saw them playing around with Chan like he was a baby. I wasn't surprised  to see Seungcheol standing behind them with a blank expression as he watched them roll around in the grass.

"Han, Han! Come here and help us punish this cheeky boy, you should've heard what he said to me!," Hoshi shouted from the other side of the garden, putting his hand over Dino's mouth to stop him from speaking.

I giggled and ran towards them. Before I could reach the other side, a hard chest blocked me from getting past, his body casting a shadow over my small frame.

"What do you think you're doing?" I rolled my eyes and looked up at him. "Seungcheol. Move, now."

"There's a possibility that you'll harm yourself, master." I scoffed in disbelief. Does he think he can control me? He's nothing but a lowly servant, a peasant for God's sake! I won't take this from him, or anyone.

"Out of my way before I have you fired," I replied blatantly, a hint of annoyance in my tone. "Please, master?" His gaze softened as he tugged at my clothes.

Fuck.

Manipulative with an innocent facade. I like it. It reminds me of a... docile lamb? One that clothes itself in lies until it reveals its horns and becomes... a devil. I must not succumb to temptation.

"I'll play if I want to, now get out of my way." I shoved him to the side and continued to make my way to the reckless crowd.

My friend group consisted of the dukes: Seungkwan, Wonwoo, Vernon, Woozi, and Joshua. The servants: Mingyu, Hoshi, Seokmin and Dino. Then there's Minghao who is the prince of the neighbouring country alongside with his servant Jun.

Although everyone had different stand points in society, when we were together, all the lines of hierarchy would fade and it would be just us, normal boys who wanted to live without restrictions.

No matter time or place, we could depend on each other wholeheartedly without fail. Without them, life would be boring and dull. There would be nothing to look forward to or be happy about.

I truly love them all, each one of them.

Sooooo, i've decided to keep chapters a bit shorter than usual. Personally, it's easier for me to write in small sections rather than multiple ones at a time so hopefully this is okay.
If you're still reading this, thank you! Love you as well because i'm lowkey writing this as a comfort book for Jeonghan's enlistment and the whole 2030 thing so I hope you all are dealing with it better than I am.
❤️ tysm for reading!!
