"So....how did your second session go this time?" Rina asked while she lazily held a glass towards her lips and eyeing the omega from the side. As promised, Izuku had called her immediately when he finished the session with Bakugou. They both agreed to meet up with each other and talk at one of the bars near the clinic.
"It went.....better? Kind of." Izuku replied as he slumped over himself where they sat at the bar. "I managed to get through to him a little but he's still hung up on.....you know..." The omega said, his words trailing off as his eyes stayed fixated on one of the bottle of the shelf. "You mean he's still hung up on the fact that his childhood best friend is now his therapist and that he is ignoring him?"
Rina arched an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as she swirled the amber liquid in her glass. And of course, Izuku bought cold matcha lemonade like he always does if the place served it. The dim lighting of the bar cast a warm glow on their faces, creating a cozy atmosphere. She took a slow sip, her eyes never leaving Izuku's as she waited for him to continue.
Izuku sighed heavily, the weight of the day's events still pressing on him. "Yeah, pretty much. Every session is like walking on a tightrope. He's got this wall up, and it's hard to tell if he's genuinely trying or if he's just playing games. But today... today felt a bit different."
Rina leaned in slightly, her curiosity piqued. "Different how?"
Izuku fiddled with the coaster under his glass, his fingers tracing its edges. "He was more open, in a way. He actually admitted to feeling frustrated and... stuck. But then, just when I thought I was making progress, he threw a curveball."
Rina's eyes twinkled with interest. "Oh? Do tell."
Izuku glanced around the bar, making sure their conversation was private. "He... called me by my name again. In the middle of everything, he just slipped it out. I don't think it was on purpose though....he apologized."
Rina's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Dynamight apologizing, seriously? And then what?"
"And," Izuku continued, leaning back with a hint of frustration, "He made it clear that he's not giving up."
Rina's smirk widened. "You seriously got your work cut out for you Izu, I told you from the start this was a bad idea to even agree taking his case."
Izuku's gaze dropped to his glass, and he gave a rueful chuckle. "You know what for once I think you might be right."
Rina took another sip, studying Izuku thoughtfully. "How long are you planning to keep this up?"
"I don't know.....the whole reason I even agreed to take him was because I need the money. The Hero commission is paying me a lot because they need Bakugou in the field." Izuku explained as he ran a hand through his hair. "You already have tons of patients who's paying you huge amounts of money....honestly I still can't believe why you're still staying in that tiny apartment of yours." Rina said as she rolled her eyes and took another sip of her alcohol.
"I like my apartment....I know it's not that big but I don't need that big of a space." The omega said as he scratched the back of his head. "Whatever you say.....hey- at least you probably have more than six figures in your bank account so you should be set if you ever do decide to buy a new house. By the way I have a friend in real estate if you ever looking." She added as she jokingly shoved Izuku's shoulder.
Rina has known Izuku for years. She was the very first friend he made when he joined the clinic. She basically knew everything about him. They were best friends. But even best friends hid secrets from one another. Izuku made a lot with the job he has but that doesn't mean he has the luxury of spending the money he earns on anything he wanted.
