Fractureverse Siphon marched up to Fractureverse Lyria with a huge grin on his face. He had some very good news to tell her. "Good morning Captain." He said calling her by her known rank rather than address her as queen because they were out in public. "What is it?" She asked, trying to not let this bother her. "I have just been requested by the grandmaster to take a patrol out today and he has given me a list of soldiers he wants in it including yourself." He explained with a gleam in his eyes. "Oh I see. I'll be more than happy to come along." She replied happily upon realising what this meant.
"I shall go and prepare the others while you get yourself ready." Fractureverse Siphon exclaimed. Fractureverse Lyria nodded in agreement. Though their communication had seemed apparently normal they both knew what they had really meant. Fractureverse Siphon was going to spread the news to the other imposters who in turn would make sure the message gets to Fractureverse Agatha and Fractureverse Vimir who would be waiting in the forest outside of Dreadfort ready to ambush. Then they would help the other imposters take out the other soldiers who would then be switched out for their counterparts, once they were permanently taken out of the picture.
"Everyone listen up! We are hoping to have a peaceful patrol today but that doesn't mean we let our guard down. Is that clear?" Boomed the voice of Fractureverse Siphon as he stood in front of his gathered troops as they were lined up just outside the city walls. "Yes Sir!" Chimed the soldiers. "Very good. Now, patrol left turn! Patrol quick march!" He yelled and so they began the start of their patrol completely unaware that it would be their last.
They had been walking for quite a few hours and yet there was still no ambush. Fractureverse Lyria was trying her best not to lose patience but she couldn't talk to Fractureverse Siphon to ask him as to when and where it would happen. 'Urgh when will we execute the attack or have you managed to mess this up.' She wondered, accidentally stumbling over a hidden tree root. "Bother!" She cursed under her breath when she tripped.
Little did she know that Fractureverse Siphon had planned it so the ambush would be far away from potential witnesses and the soldiers that they were planning to murder would be too exhausted to give it their all to fight for their lives. It was a perfect plan providing everyone stuck to their part. Unfortunately for him, Jiggs was about to unknowingly sabotage his plan.
"Sir, I think we should rest. We've been on the move for hours and everyone is tired. We can't engage with the enemy if we are tired." Jiggs exclaimed. Fractureverse Siphon stopped in his tracks and turned to stare at Jiggs. He bit his tongue preventing him from lashing out in anger and ultimately ruining the entire plan altogether. That's when Fractureverse Lyria figured out what he was trying to do but she wasn't sure yet of how to persuade the others to keep marching. "Um well I suppose..." Fractureverse Siphon began as he tried to make things up as he went along.
Luckily for him the Fractureverse soldier imposters caught on to his original plan and interrupted him. "Don't worry Sir, we won't let you down. We'll keep marching." They said determinedly. Jiggs and the rest of the soldiers remained unpersuaded. "Don't worry Officer Siphon, they don't understand how difficult it is being an officer. It's a hard compromise between doing the right thing for your faction and doing the right thing for your troops. Don't worry I do understand. I can fly on ahead and continue the patrol myself while everyone rests." Fractureverse Lyria explained.
Her plan was that she would fly on ahead to alert the awaiting ambush to get them to attack the patrol while they were resting. Jiggs was once again about to ruin their secret plans without knowing there were any schemes going on. "And go on along?" Asked Jiggs full of concern. Fractureverse Lyria could feel her anger rising since she wanted this plan to work. Luckily she let out a deep breath so that Jiggs wouldn't become suspicious. "I've flown around on my own before. I'll be fine in the skies." She replied hoping that Jiggs would stop messing up their hidden plans.
