Jules awoke with a fright that early Monday morning. A nightmare of her brother transforming and ripping her to shreds caused her to awaken earlier than she had intended. Julie had never told her brother about these nightmares, considering he always blamed himself for any little thing and refused to think of himself as any less of a monster.
The nightmares were always the same and had been ongoing for years, at first she told James it was just regular nightmares but as he grew suspicious she caved and he was the only one who knew the truth. Her fears that one day, her brother would forget who she was in his unwell state and be the reason for her demise. Be the reason her parents would cry, and she'd never get to live her life the way she had imagined.
She used to have these dreams nearly every night, but it had been months since one had occurred.
Part of her couldn't help but feel weak at her shaken state. The way her jagged breath never seemed to catch up with her, and her eyes watered so much that Jules vision seemed permanently clouded.
It was the worst feeling in the world, and the worst part was James hadn't spent the night in her dorm, so the girl was forced to cope and suffer in silence. Julies small whimpers forced her to cover her hand over her own mouth so as not to wake her roommates.
The teen managed to creep down the stairs into the common room, her sleeping clothes still no as she hadn't bothered to change.
Jules made her way up the male dorm stairs and into her brother and friends shared room. Nobody awoke when she snuck in, and so after a silencing charm was placed around James's bed, she crept into the closed curtains.
"James," the girl whispered with a shakey breath. Her hands wouldn't stop shaking as she did her best to tap him on the shoulder
The boy jolted awake his arms nearly wacking the girl beside him as he let out a high pitch shreik of a scream before covering his own mouth to quiet himself.
"Merlin Jules, you scared the bloody hell out of me," James clutched his chest as he reached for his glasses, which Julie handed to him.
The girl quickly apologized. "I've had them again. You weren't there, and I didn't know what to do, James, I'm scared."
That's when he took in the girls' demeanor, her inability to hold her breath, which she normally did to calm herself. Her body is not able to stop twitching and shaking as tears pooled her eyes.
"Can they hear us?" James asked quietly, unsure of how to respond without context of the situation happening outside of their own little world
"No, I put a silencing charm around your bed before I woke you up in case you screamed." Julie tried smiling, but it came across weak, much to her disappointment,
It was quite common for the children and teens to be awoken and scream in terror with the war on the horizon. Nobody was safe.
"Good, come here, love," James spoke softly, opening his arms for the girl to crawl towards him and lay on his chest to seek comfort
The moment the girls head hit his chest, she felt safe and secure. Like she was home. His hands ran gently through her hair as he whispered comforting words towards her till she fell asleep.
This was exactly why she went to James for comfort. He was the best at protecting her in ways Jules didn't know she needed.

The sun arose high in the sky, signaling the people around that it was time to awaken and start their days. The gentle breeze cooled the room as the window had been left open the previous night, allowing the curtains to dance with the wind.
Remus was the first to wake up that morning coming suprise to no one.
He was always an early riser and typically got ready first before awakening his friends so they could get ready as well. Usually, they still somehow managed to be late one way or another, but it was the effort that counted in his mind and heart.
That morning, however, when Remus had awoken, it was strangely quiet.
James Potter wasn't snoring. This wasn't some miracle that meant something or someone put a silencing charm around his bed. The teen couldn't help but investigate so still in his sweatpants rather than his uniform he pulled the curtains from around James bed and let out a gut-wrenching scream of rage.
It sounded nearly identical to when the boy was transforming into his wolf counterpart.
In turn, he had awoken his other friends terrified of why their typically calm demaneoured friend was so angry on such a nice morning.
"What the bloody fuck are you doing with my sister" Remus scream turned into a cry as James had finally opened his eyes to evaluate the situation
James had Jules sleeping on his chest his hands resting on her lower back.
This did not look good, James thought to himself as he readjusted his glasses still on his face.
On one hand, he could tell Remus the truth and betray Julie, and on the other hand, he tries to lie and fail miserably and meet his demise.
Luckily for him, Julie woke up at that moment and saved the day.
"I was having stupid nightmares about the war Rem, James happened to wake up and said I could sleep here and he wouldn't let me sleep on the floor, now get your nickers out of a twist and get ready for breakfast I'll see you lads in a bit" The girl lectured the four before getting out of bed and walking out presumably towards her dorm
James still feared for his life as a grumpy Remus slammed the bathroom door shut.

Breakfast that morning was excruciatingly quiet. Nobody was cracking jokes or smiling, and the Marauders fellow classmates even wondered how the energy felt so awkward and uncomfortable.
Peter spoke up in an attempt to break the silence. "How come you never see any pregnant Barbie’s?" he was met with silence, so he finished the punchline."Because Ken came in another box, " he wiggled his eyebrows and was only met with a laugh from Sirius, who high fived him
"Good one, Wormy." Sirius dramatically wiped his tears
Sirius took the opportunity to make a joke of his own.
"What did one shepherd say to the other shepherd?" the boy asked with a shit eatting grin
"What Padfoot what'd he say?" Peter asked excitedly
Sirius smirked. "Let's get the flock outta here!!" and the two boys burst into laughter, allowing the tensions to ease in the Great Hall but not at their table
James got up abruptly with Jules hot on his trail as the two walked out of the great hall, presumably walking to class. Whispers spread across the Great Hall at the twos fairly dramatic exit.
Sirius spoke up as the pair left. "He's so whipped. Moony just let him take her on a date,"
"Go, to, hell," Remus slumped in his seat as he aggressively stabbed at his waffles
"Alrighty then cmon Wormy we've got places to be." Sirius spoke dramatically
"But -" Peter began looking at his breakfast
"PLACES!" Sirius cried, and Peter sighed, grabbing his biscuit and taking it with him as he walked away
