"Today, we are continuing to read the teacups to understand the future before we can exist in the future," the Divination's professor spoke
The Divination classroom had an aura of mystery that seemed to cling to every corner. The air was thick with the sweet, smoky scent of incense, mingling with the faintest hint of dried herbs hanging from the ceiling. Small, round tables were scattered around the room, each draped in rich, velvety cloths adorned with intricate patterns.
Crystal balls, their surfaces swirling with cloudy mists, sat atop them, reflecting the flickering light from the many candles that hovered in midair.
Shelves lining the walls were crammed with worn, leather-bound books on prophecy and ancient scrolls. A collection of delicate teacups, each with a unique design, was carefully arranged on a side table, waiting to be used for reading the leaves.
The room was always warm, almost stifling, the kind of heat that made one's eyelids droop and thoughts drift lazily, perfect for inducing a trance-like state. Professor Cassandra Vablatsky, if she hadn't come off as so deranged when talking to her, was incredibly stunning.
Jules smiled, being the first to get up and grab a teacup, looking down inside and trying to read what it meant. The girl truly enjoyed divination; she considered it to be one of the finer arts the school had to provide, although most students disagreed.
"Professor, I can't make out what this is supposed to mean?" Julie spoke up, and Professor Vablatsky walked over towards her with a kind smile
"Ah yes, this, my dear, means you are not seeing what is right in front of you. Your love life will be in shambles if you don't figure it out. " Jules could have sworn the professor winked at her as she walked away.
"What a load of bullshit." One of the students near her muttered but was ignored
What could it possibly mean? Julie wasn't dating anyone. If she did, it would probably give Remus an ulcer.
🌬
"Oh hey, Pete!" Julie yelled across the long, narrow hallway after leaving divination.
She got lucky and had the next period free to do whatever her heart desired, of course confined to the castles rules and walls, but still fairly free to do what she pleased none the less.
Peter was always very shy around most people. The boy was incredibly sweet it was a shame people chose to ignore him rather than get to know him as a person. If they did, they would realise just how lovely of a person he actually is.
"You have a class next?" the girl asked him, and he shook his head yes
"James doesn't, and he wanted me to tell you if I saw you, he's looking for you." The boy recited with a kind-hearted smile
"Thanks, Pete. I'll go look for him now." Jules smiled, waving goodbye to Peter before making her way to the Gryfindor common room.
With each turn of the hallway, the girls mind wandered, trying to think what James, her James, could possibly need from her. He didn't typically request her presence she normally just found him.
They were sort of like magnets. Both always gravitated towards one another until eventually they clicked and became unseperatable unless absolutely forced to separate.
It was the best part of their friendship.
Always knowing one another could rely on the other. Never having to worry about judgment because of how close they were, it was freeing.
🌬
"James?" Julie called towards the shared dorm. It was the only place she hadn't checked yet.
James smiled to himself. "Come in love," he shouted towards her, and she walked inside, feeling comfortable immideatly
There stood James Potter. A shirtless James Potter at that. His toned muscles still managed to shine brightly in the dimly lit dorm. His abs were a sight as the girl practically gawked at him. It didn't help that he was wearing grey sweatpants that rested below his hips, leaving very little to the imagination. It also didn't help he was still wearing his glasses, which somehow made him more attractive.
Not that Julie minded.
"Pete said you needed me?" The girl asked, failing to notice that she swallowed the lump in her throat
In the girls mind, she was still coming across as confident, but from James perspective, this was the most nervous he had ever seen her. He made sure to mentally note that what he was wearing, he should definitely wear it again.
"You seem nervous Jules, you okay?" James asked with a smirk as he walked over towards her
"You are so delusional, Jamie," the girl rolled her eyes as he pulled her into a hug, allowing her to feel everything
"I wanted to see if you'd skip classes and read to me so I can take a nap," James whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine
"Y-yeah, sure." She spoke softly, unwrapping herself from James picking up one of her brothers books and sitting down on James bed waiting for him to join her.
He walked over and made himself comfortable on her lap. He looked like a golden retriever in a way. It was cute.
Jules shook her head and began reading one of the Sherlock Holmes stories to the boy on top of her. He lazily looked at her from time to time, and the two eventually fell asleep, James holding the girl tightly almost as though he was afraid she'd leave.
Maybe part of him was scared she'd leave.
