Welcome to the crumbling world of "Mountain Children" everyone! I've been wanting to write a troll story forever. They are my second favorite fantasy creature behind goblins. (If you know you know.) This story in particular has existed in one form or another for years. Much like what happened with The Goblin's Trilogy I restarted it multiple times until I settled on this version.
The story centers on the widowed dowager queen of the elves who unwittingly finds herself in a political marriage with the younger troll prince responsible for killing her husband during a battle. Just as she grows accustomed to her troll groom a disaster will leave the trolls unable to remain in their home under the mountains of the northern continent. To survive, they will need to cross the Windrose Sea towards the south to the land of monsters in search of their sister clan. It is a quest that may prove impossible without Ylva and the elves' help. Will she grant her husband's killer her aid or will she choose revenge and let the trolls at last die out?
Life and an immense personal loss had killed my desire to write for a long time. I'm just now rediscovering it and that is the purpose for this story. To remind myself how much I love writing fantasy about creatures usually relegated to being henchmen or mindless monsters.
I am trying my best to stick with a weekly release schedule. Right now, I'll be posting every Sunday. Any deviance from this schedule will be announced on my message board and within the story itself when I'm able to.
The first chapter will be out this Sunday 8/18/24!
