"5 PM sharp tomorrow Aniruddh"
I nodded and headed for home. Pulling out my phone, the screen showed "00:45"
Walking out in the darkness and the silence of the night, I stuffed in my earphones and walked the streets. . . . .
Half an hour later, I got into the elevator. Looking into my reflection, I could see my disheaveled state. Adjusting my hair and shirt and I got out.
"Zyada der ho gaye bhaiya" Aditansh took my bag from me.
"Pehla din tha beta toh samjhne me aur adjust hone mein time lag gaya." Rolling up my sleeves, I slumped back on the sofa. The terrible humidity and the fatigue of the day really got to me.
" Roz itna der mat kariyega aap. Jaiye kapde change kar lijiye hum dinner laga de rahe hain." He bought me a glass of water.
As I got up to leave to change, Aashu emerged from the bed room, rubbing his eyes.
"Bhaiya" He whispered and walked up to me. I engulfed my baccha into my arms and took all the comfort I could from him.
"Maine aapka wait kiya tha, fir bhai ne bola ki so jau toh so gaya. Aap roz itna late aayenge?"
"Nahi beta. But aap tab bhi itna raat tak mat jagna, Ok?" I pushed his locks behind and pressed a gentle kiss in them.
"Bhaiya" He whispered still snuggled in.
"Ji"
"You stink" Do I now! And he pulled back making a disgusted face and closed his nostrils.
"Accha ji!" I said smirking, ready to tickle this bacchu.
"you stink like garbage bhaiya, go wash up aur dinner par aaiye" Adu gave his 2 cents whilst setting up my plate.
He just doesn't love fun, does he!
"Kya kiya tum dono ne aaj?" Dinner time conversations growing up always revolved around all of us sharing our day' adventures. Papa Mumma would share their work related things and we would recap our day to them.
As the eldest now, asking of their day came more naturally to me.
When I saw Adu and Aashu hesitating before answering, I somehow understood that the question wasn't as simple as it sounded.
"Voh bhaiya.. school se form aaya tha fill karne ke liye, courses classes, stream of choice, toh bhai ke saath mil kar fill kiya maine." Aashu started.
" Vineet uncle ka call aaya tha" Aditansh added.
I stopped eating momentarily.
