DAENYS HAD CHOSEN TO TAKE to the skies for the day. On Crimson's red scaled back the princess had flown to Driftmark. It had been years since she had seen her cousin Laenor.

But she also sought an escape from King's Landing. She felt as if the court suffocated her, she felt as if the scheming and plotting was killing her. In truth a life at court was not what Daenys wanted.

The girl knew she would've enjoyed a position that held more power, a position that would allow her to change things. But as a woman she was a piece being moved around the board along with all of the other unwanted daughters. She was not oblivious to the situation that was soon to face her, a situation of marriage - to someone who wasn't Daemon.

When she closed her eyes she saw chains, chains swirling around her body, around her will around her spirit. She saw a seven pointed star whose light shone green. But there was a shiver to her visions, a cold wind and the smell of freshly driven snow.

The princess had never seen snow before.

Whenever Daenys tried to discuss something real with Daemon he would close off, change to subject or make her whimper instead of talking.

Any real conversation seemed to scare the rouge prince. Maybe he did not know himself how to handle the situation that he found himself in? How in seven hells would he manage to make Viserys grant him an annulment in order to marry his niece? He simply wouldn't.

But were there other ways? Daemon would think to himself as he brushed his fingers over his sweet lovers bare body, admiring her in her sleep.

Daenys however was not convinced that there were. She was not convinced that Daemon had any intention whatsoever to marry her, deep down she feared that his plan was to stain her name and reputation at court.

Daenys had not seen him in a few days. It was like he went up in smoke, vanished into thin air. But he was still in the capital since Caraxes was still in the dragon pit.

Was he avoiding her?

Was this his way of nicely telling her that he was done with her?

Tears pricked in her eyes as she thought about it.

Crimson let out a happy growl as the dragon Seasmoke was seen flying across the sky. The dragon's grey scales almost blending with the equally grey sky. A bright smile lit up Daenys' face when she saw her cousin's face. She only now realized that they had both grown up. Their reunion was sweet, they dismounted their dragons and engulfed each other in a long hug.

As they let their dragons fly over Driftmark the two cousins sat on the sandy beach, viewing the magnificent creatures they called their own.

"How does it feel?" Daenys asked as she turned her head so that she faced Laenor who had a confused look on his face. "To be a warrior." She continued so that the boy next to her understood what she was trying to say.

Laenor let out a laugh as he layed back on the sand. "More fulfilling than being the master of Driftmark ever will." He said.

"You could be mistaken for a poet, cousin." Daenys laughed as she rested her weight on her elbows in the sand. "But I always thought going to battle would be terrifying."
