TWs: I guess worrying and playful teasing? I can't think of anything else...
"Days seem sometimes as if they'll never end. Sun digs its heels to taunt you, but after sunlit days, one thing stays the same- rises the moon..."
Earth pried his eyes open, blinking wearily as he looked around for the source of the singing.
"Days fade into a watercolor blur, memories swim and haunt you... but look into the lake, shimmering like smoke- rises the moon..."
'Luna...?' Earth's hazy gaze landed on the grey moon floating over him. Luna never sang- well, he did, but he usually didn't when someone was around him. He was always insecure about his voice, becoming easily embarrassed whenever he was caught singing.
"Oh-oh, close your weary eyes..." Luna closed his eyes as he sang, "I promise you that soon the autumn comes to darken fading summer skies. Breathe, breathe, breathe..."
Earth smiled with a soft expression, "Have you been practicing?"
Luna jolted, his eyes snapping open to look at his parent planet, "E-Earth? You're awake!"
The moon moved forward, wrapping his arms around Earth's middle. Earth returned the hug, closing his eyes as he raised a hand to sweep through Luna's hair. He breathed in, his shoulders slumping as he finally relaxed.
"Days pull you down just like a sinking ship. Floating is getting harder," Earth sang, his voice light as he pulled away. He peered through half-lidded eyes as he brought his hand to rest on Luna's cheek, "But tread the water, child, and know that meanwhile- rises the moon..."
A tear fell from Luna's eye, and Earth quickly wiped it away with his thumb. He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss on Luna's forehead. The moon shivered, feeling a brief spray of mist rain on his surface. He looked up into Earth's heterochromatic gaze.
The Celestial smiled, "Days pull you up just like a daffodil uprooted from its garden..."
"They'll tell you what you owe, but know even so," Luna continued, "Rises the moon..."
"You'll be visited by sleep." Earth made a gesture, prodding the other to sing with him.
Luna's voice wavered, "I promise you that soon the autumn comes-"
"To steal away each dream you keep~" They both sang.
Earth, "Breathe."
Luna whispered, "Breathe..."
"Breathe..." They finished.
Earth smiled, cupping Luna's face in his hands, "Te amo, Luna."
Luna blinked back tears, his lip quivering as the corners rose slightly. He moved forward, burying his head in Earth's chest, "Te quoque amo, pater."
Earth ruffled the moon's head, who leaned into the touch, before turning his attention elsewhere. He hummed, "How long was I out?"
"Two days... Mars and Uranus tried to stay until you woke up, but the Sun wouldn't allow it," Luna spoke.
Earth blinked. He understood why Mars stayed, they were best friends and practically inseparable, but Uranus? Sure, the Giant gifted him portraits, but that's basically the only time they've interacted.
"Well, I can always count on you to keep me company." Earth grinned, patting the other on the head, "And to help me keep my Earthlings safe..."
Luna peered up at Earth, frowning as he noticed the wistful expression on the planet's face. Pulling away, Luna tilted his head, "Earth...?"
