"You'll be fine. I'll behave, I promise."

As Ethan starts to get everything ready, you look at the man in front of you. Finally you actually get a good look at the stranger that helped you. He's a tall white man, with a decent length of thick dark brown hair and a strong physique. The man seems a bit older than you, but you still found him attractive, then you stop your head from going there. He also seems to have a firm scowl on his eyebrows it doesn't look very strained as it would in a situation like this, as if that's a usual expression on his face, but still his honey brown eyes are kind and soft. In your head, you're already thinking of how to mix paint to have his eyes painted, and how you would paint his features.
(You can imagine him as whoever or however you want, I just wrote him like this.)

"Thank you." You tell him and he looks at you. "I'm Yn."

"Ethan." He gives you a smile and you feel your heart skip a bit at his nice and kind smile, when otherwise some would say he looks intimidating. You feel like he was showing a soft side when with a patient, to make them feel better, and it worked.

You let him work in silence as you only let out a few hisses or grunts as he stitches you up. Ethan is impressed with you as he works on your wound, as you barely make a sound from the pain. He also finds you very beautiful, but he stops himself from thinking too much about that, you looked a lot younger than him, not too young but still enough for him to think that you probably saw him as a lot older, he wasn't that old but he doesn't want to make you feel uncomfortable and now isn't really the time anyway.
(I try not to be too specific about the age, since people have different opinions on what is too big of an age gap, many doesn't even look their age, so you are welcome to choose yourself. BUT Yn has to be at least legal age, even if you as a reader aren't, the character Yn has to be. Especially when it's an age gap story. I personally prefer Yn to be at least 21 years old, but I usually imagine her as around 24-27.)

...

You had just sat in silence and listened to the people talking about sleeping arrangements. Though found yourself dozing off occasionally, only to get a slight pinch from Ethan and it was starting to get on your nerve, but nonetheless grateful for the concern, feeling safe and taken care of.

"Huh?" You say when you realise Ethan was trying to talk with you. Ethan sighs a bit worriedly at you struggling to hold a conversation after most likely having a concussion, maybe a bad one.

"You might just be exhausted and overwhelmed, but you should stay awake tonight. I'm sorry, I know you're feeling tired and the only thing you want to do now is to sleep. But let's try and keep you awake for sometime until I feel confident you are fine and then I'll let you get some rest. Sound okay?"

"Okay." You just say and watch as he goes to a drawer by the Tv, he roams it and find a stack of cards. When you look around you realise the others had apparently scattered somewhere else in the house and you hadn't noticed. Then walking back, he takes the cards and shuffles them.

"You know any card games?" He asks you and you smile with a soft chuckle.

Ethan plays cards with you for a few hours, while occasionally talking with you, he tries to keep you talking. But realises the best way to keep you awake was actually for him to talk, because you weren't that much of a talker but you looked genuinely interested when listening to him talk. The conversation flows naturally and he even starts sharing more than he has ever done with a stranger he just met, not any big secrets or anything, just still surprised with himself. And the times you did talk and even slightly shared something he couldn't help but be intrigued and wanted to know more.

...

Ethan helps you up the stairs the next day.

"You good?"

"Yeah, thanks."

You look past him and see Douglas looking at you, Ethan turns and sees him. Both of you getting an uncomfortable feeling, you turn to each other and ask at the same time.

"Do mind if I stay?"
"Would you stay?"

You both go silent and then chuckle.

"Only if you don't mind. I don't want to make you uncomfortable. I would just stay close, to keep an eye out for you, I'm not sure how I feel about the people here yet." He tells you.

"I would be very grateful if you would stay with me. I don't feel comfortable with anyone other than you yet." You tell him and head into the bedroom. Ethan looks after you with a soft smile.

Getting into the room you lay down on the bed with a long sigh. Ethan goes to get comfortable in the chair by the bed and you lift your head slightly to see him in the chair, then lean your head back down.

"Ethan."

"Yes?"

"Just get in the bed." You tell him and he chuckles.

"Are you sure? I don't mind the chair."

"You'll be fine. I'll behave, I promise." You tell him and he chuckles again as he stands up from the chair.

You had closed your eyes by the time he lays down, so you just feel the bed dip beside you.

"Good night, Ethan."

"Good night, Yn."

Even though he does get some sleep, he doesn't sleep that much the first night as he feels the need to watch out for you. His eyes mostly focused on the door, though he finds himself glancing at your face every now and then, sleeping peacefully beside him.

...

You and Ethan connect over these next few days, though you still struggle to share every time he asks you something that's personal. But it surprises you that you feel so comfortable with him and find him easy to talk to. He doesn't force or make it awkward, only shows understanding and no pressure when you don't want to talk about something and smoothly changes the subject. It makes you actually be able to share a bit more the next time the conversation turns personal.
