"That's something you can't unsee."
-

You sit down on the bed with long exhale.

"Hi." You hear and turn to see Olympia coming into the bedroom. "Ethan said I could sleep with you." She says, you nod and try to give her a smile. "You know this way, we won't be lonely." She says.

You frown to yourself, thinking about how you actually hadn't felt lonely, not with Ethan here, but you sympathises for her, having been without her husband for a month.

"I read this blog post once that pregnant women should always sleep next to someone, because the baby can sense when the mother is lonely." She tells you.

"So, have you thought of any names yet?" You ask her.

"Well, if it's a girl we wanted to name her like, Ariel or Jasmine. I mean, I would love to name her Cinderella and just call her Ella." She says and you chuckle softly.

"And what did your husband like?"

"He loves everything I love.. What about you? Does you and your husband want children?" She asks you and you raise an eyebrow confused.

"Husband?"

"Uh, yeah, Ethan?" She says and your eyebrows raise. Though frown internally at yourself when a part of you liked being assumed as his wife.

"Oh, no, he's not my husband." You tell her in a low voice.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I just assumed."

"That's okay, don't worry." You tell her with a smile.

You leave the room, heading for what you were doing before Olympia came. As you sit down with the papers you hear the wind whistling and then distorted whispering, you flinch slightly when it rumbles and you listen to the faint inaudible whispering. Then you frown when you hear some faint soft thudding. You decide to walk around to check, only to find nothing out of the ordinary in the living room, so you head for the kitchen and jump in surprise when Ethan appears in front of you suddenly.

"Sorry." He whispers and you shake your head to say it's fine and keep looking curiously around. "What is it?" He asks you.

"Do you hear that?"

"Uh.." He tries to listen and then hears the soft thudding. "Yeah.." He frowns.

You walk toward the front door but stop on the way when you hear something from the washing room, Ethan steps up beside you and slides the door open. Looking inside you're met with Felix and Lucy having sex and your eyes widen and you gasp, Ethan closing the door in a hurry. You and Ethan make eye contact and burst out laughing not too loud but you have to cover your mouth.

"That's something you can't unsee." Ethan says as you walk away.

"Uh, no, no you cannot." You say.

Then stopping you hear more thudding coming from the closet and you chuckle again, moving further away.

"Are you okay?" You then ask him.

"Yeah."

"I'll wait to do my laundry in the morning."

"That's probably a good idea." Ethan nods.

"Yeah, I thinks so too." You tell him and he chuckles. "You gave your spot to Olympia." You then say.

"Yeah, I reckoned that was okay with you."

"Of course.. Where are you gonna sleep?"

He shrugs looking around.

"There might be room for three in the bed." You tell him.

"Nah, we should let Olympia get some proper sleep."

"Right.. There's still the chair." You say and he nods.

The two of you head up the stairs and to the bedroom

"I can take the-"

"Don't even try." He interrupts you and sits down on the chair starting to get himself comfortable while you watch with a soft smile.

Lying down on the bed you look at the ceiling for a long moment, then glance at Ethan. The chair was right by your side of the bed. You turn to lay facing toward him, then look at his hand on the armrest. You reach out and brush a tentative finger against his hand. He opens his eyes and looks at you, then he turns his hand to meet yours, interlacing his fingers with yours.

...

"Got some bad news." Ethan says leaning on the kitchen counter addressing everyone. "Alright. We're running out of food and there's no help coming. We've got to get outside."

Everyone just looks hesitant.

"I might know where we can get more."

"Where, Charlie?" Lucy asks him.

"The fields market. Look, I locked the place up when everything started going crazy."

"You're just now telling us this?" Douglas says.

"At least now we know. Thank you, Charlie." You tell him.

"Okay, so we'll need a group of us to go." Ethan says.

"Whoa, man. We'll be dead before we get there. Are you kidding me?" Felix tells him.

"I'm going." Douglas says.

"Me too." You say.

"No." Ethan just tells you, like he has the right.

"Ethan!?" You look at him incredulously.

"I can come too." Olympia then offers.

"You're pregnant." Ethan then reminds her as if that's necessary.

"I'll come." Lucy says.

"What?" Felix asks her. "It's a death wish!"

"I have the training. It'll be fine." She tells him.

"I don't like this. I don't think anyone should go." Cheryl then says shaking her head at everyone.

"So, there's three of us."

"Four." You then correct Douglas, but Ethan shakes his head and you give him a warning glare. "Ethan, if you're going, I'm going." You tell him sternly in a low voice. He just looks at you for a moment before relenting with a nod.

"Fine. Then five, Charlie's going."

"Charlie's going? Charlie ain't going nowhere." Charlie then says.

"You know the security system." Ethan tells him.

"No chance I'm going. I gave you the information. That's all you need from me. You don't need me to tell you where to go, it's a supermarket. They got sighs. You've been shopping before.." He keeps blabbering nervously but Ethan just throws him the car keys.

"Charlie. It'll be research for the book." You say for him to calm down. "Okay?"
