**Suhani's POV**
It was a bright, sunny day, but the world felt dim and heavy. I had finally managed to get away from my parents' tight grip and headed straight for the college campus, desperate to see Veer. I knew he had been at the house, talking to my parents, and I had to find out what happened. I had to see him, to understand why he seemed so distant and why my parents had been so adamant about keeping me away from him.
I spotted Veer standing near the campus fountain, his back turned to me. My heart ached at the sight of him, knowing that he had agreed to something that had torn me apart. I approached him slowly, my heart pounding with a mix of hope and trepidation.
"Veer," I called out softly, reaching out a hand.
He didn't turn around, didn't acknowledge my presence. My heart sank as the silence stretched between us.
"Veer, please," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "We need to talk. What's going on? Why have you been avoiding me?"
Still no response. I could feel the panic rising in my chest. I took a step closer, my voice breaking as I pleaded, "Please, just look at me."
Finally, he turned, but his gaze was cold, distant. There was a hurt in his eyes that I couldn't quite place, and it made me feel like I was falling into a void.
"Veer," I said, tears starting to sting my eyes. "Why are you doing this? What's wrong?"
Before he could answer, Rhea appeared from behind a nearby tree, her expression triumphant. She sauntered over to us, her eyes flickering with malice.
"Still pining for Veer, Suhani?" she said, her voice dripping with disdain. "I thought you'd learned your lesson by now."
I flinched at her words, feeling a rush of anger and embarrassment. "Rhea, this isn't the time. Please, just leave us alone."
"Leave you alone?" Rhea scoffed, stepping closer. "You really think you're special enough for Veer to care about? He's made it pretty clear he doesn't want you around."
I looked at Veer, desperation in my eyes. "Is this true? Did you really agree to stay away from me?"
Veer's face was unreadable, but he didn't say a word. The silence spoke volumes.
Rhea continued, her voice gaining an edge. "He's already made his choice, Suhani. You're just a distraction, a little game he was playing. And guess what? The game's over."
The sting of Rhea's words was nothing compared to the ache in my heart as I looked at Veer, who was standing there, saying nothing. It felt like every ounce of hope I'd held onto was being crushed right before my eyes.
"Veer, please," I begged, tears streaming down my cheeks. "Tell me this isn't true. Please say something."
He looked at me for a moment, his expression pained but resolute. "Suhani, you need to go. Just... go."
The words hit me like a physical blow. I shook my head, unable to comprehend what was happening. "No, Veer. Please don't do this. I don't understand. Why are you pushing me away?"
But he didn't answer. He simply turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, alone, with my heart breaking into pieces.
Rhea's laughter echoed behind me as I sank to the ground, the weight of Veer's silence and Rhea's cruel words crashing over me. I felt like I was drowning, struggling to catch my breath through the storm of emotions.
I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to hold onto the fragments of my shattered world. Veer's absence felt like a gaping void, and every step he took away from me felt like a knife twisting deeper into my heart.
