After a long and tiring flight, Nazia finally reached her destination: Bangkok. As she stepped off the plane, the warm Bangkok air enveloped her, thick with the scent of exotic spices and blooming flowers. The bright Thai sunlight streaming through the airport windows was a stark contrast to the gloomy skies she'd left behind. As she breathed in the fragrant air, Nazia felt a thrill of excitement mixed with a hint of nervousness about the unknown adventures awaiting her.
She took a taxi after stepping out of the airport, heading to Chulalongkorn University. Nazia felt a bit nervous as the university would be her new home and tertiary institution. She'd decided to stay in an all-girls dorm until she found a job and could afford her own accommodation.
Nazia arrived at the university, paid the taxi driver, and excitedly made her way to the entrance. She walked to the office, got her schedule and dorm room key, and nervously walked to the dorm. All eyes were on her – she was the new girl, after all. A few girls smiled, while others were indifferent.
After walking up the stairs, Nazia finally reached the third floor, where her shared room would be – Room 27. She knocked on the door, and less than a second later, it opened to reveal a girl around her age with kind eyes. "Sawatdee kha! Please come in – you must be Nazia, my new roommate. I'm Tanya."
Nazia smiled warmly, feeling relieved to have made at least one friend before starting her classes. After settling in, Nazia took a shower and changed into comfortable clothes before joining Tanya. They discovered their shared interest in Lakorn (Thai dramas) and decided to order pizza from a nearby pizzeria.
After dinner, Nazia decided to sleep early, feeling proud of herself for making it this far. She drifted off into a peaceful slumber, missing her room and parents but excited for the new chapter ahead.
The next morning, Nazia woke up to her phone's alarm and did her usual morning routine. She joined Tanya for breakfast and made pancakes and coffee for both of them. After breakfast, Nazia looked at her schedule – Financial Accounting was her first class. "What's your first class today, Nazia?" Tanya asked. "Financial Accounting," Nazia replied. "Great, we can go together – we have the same schedule!"
As they walked to class, Nazia asked Tanya to show her around later. Tanya agreed with a warm smile. They entered the lecture room, and Tanya whispered, "Naz, I gotta warn ya, our professor's quite good-looking." Nazia laughed, but her eyes met the professor's gaze, and she felt a flutter in her chest.
Professor Lukas Thanakrit's American English accent was silky smooth as he welcomed Nazia to the class. She listened intently as he began his lesson, trying to focus on the material rather than his captivating presence. An hour passed, and the bell rang, marking the end of their Financial Accounting lecture.
As they walked out of the classroom, Tanya asked, "So, Naz, what do you think of our Financial Accounting professor, Lukas Akira Thanakrit?" Nazia smiled, "He's handsome, but he's our professor – and besides, he's too old for us, Tanya!"
