Meanwhile, David found himself at the front of the deck, where he had met Rose the night he stopped her from jumping off. He leaned against the railing, sighing heavily as he looked out at the sea. His mind was racing, and his heart was aching. He couldn't believe he had lost her. He had thought he could convince her to be with him, but he had failed. He shouldn't have let her get close to him. He should have kept his distance. Now he was paying the price for his emotional investment.

David's thoughts were a turbulent mix of regret and sorrow. He replayed every moment he had spent with Rose, searching for signs he might have missed, wondering if there was something he could have done differently. He had hoped that by showing her his genuine self, he might have earned her trust and affection. But it seemed that his own feelings had clouded his judgment and ultimately led to his heartbreak. As he gazed out at the vast expanse of the ocean, he felt as though he was drifting aimlessly, much like the waves below. The serenity of the sea only seemed to deepen his inner turmoil. He had invested so much of himself into this relationship, and now it felt like all of that effort had been in vain.

He clenched the railing, trying to steady his emotions. His heart ached with the knowledge that he had lost something precious, something he had hoped would change his life for the better. The sense of loss was overwhelming, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he had failed not only Rose but himself as well. When it came to relationships, he had never really had a chance to be in one. Most women he knew were too focused on his money or the status of his family to see the real him. He had never really felt connected to any of them. Or he would be too busy with school or work or helping out at the farm to find time to date.

Plus he hadn't had time to think about love, what with all the other stuff going on. He had learned to be guarded, to keep his emotions in check. He didn't let anyone get too close, afraid of getting hurt. He was a bit of a loner, and that was okay. He didn't need anyone. Besides his family. They were the most important people in his life. But they didn't know him like Rose did. Not even Mckenna. He didn't open up easily, and he had never met anyone who had gotten him like she did. She had been the first person he had let his guard down around, and it had been the best decision of his life. Or so he thought.

Now she was gone, and he was left with a broken heart and a heavy weight on his chest. He had lost the one woman who had truly understood him. The one woman he had ever really loved. He should have known it wouldn't last. Nothing ever did. Everything good in his life always ended up getting ruined or taken away. He didn't understand why. What did he do to deserve this? He felt a lump form in his throat, and his eyes sting as tears threatened to fall. He swallowed thickly, trying to fight them back. He shouldn't cry. He's the oldest child. He's the one who's supposed to be strong, to keep everyone else safe and protected. But he can't do that when his own heart is hurting. He feels his body shake, and he clenches his jaw, struggling to keep his emotions under control.

"I changed my mind." A familiar voice said from behind him, causing him to spin around and come face to face with Rose while butterflies filled his stomach.

His heart leapt into his throat, and he stares at her, unable to believe his eyes. She was here, she came back. "W-What?"

"You heard me. I changed my mind. I want to be with you." Rose explained as she smiled, walking towards him.

David stared at her, shocked. He was speechless. She had come back. She wanted to be with him. She hadn't changed her mind. She wanted to run away with him, she wanted to have a future with him. She loves him. He felt a huge smile form on his face, and he quickly closed the gap between them, pulling her into a passionate kiss. He held her close, his arms wrapped around her and his hands tangled in her hair. He could feel her heart beating rapidly against his chest, and her lips were warm and soft. His heart swelled with joy and relief, and he poured every ounce of love and passion he felt for her into that kiss. It was the best feeling in the world.
