April 15, 1912
The ship of Carpathia was a flurry of activity, people hurrying back and forth in a desperate attempt to help the survivors. Doctors and nurses were busy working on those who were injured, their voices calm and reassuring as they assessed the victims' condition. There were cries of joy and relief as people were reunited with their loved ones, and the atmosphere was one of hope and optimism.
Jack and Mckenna were huddled together in a corner, wrapped in blankets and trying to warm up. Mckenna was asleep, she had been since they transferred to Carpathia. Jack finally felt like he could relax a little, he was still cold but not as bad. He had been checked out by a doctor, but was told he would be okay, which was good.
David and Rose were curled up together, their bodies trembling from the cold. But their color was coming back, and they were slowly regaining their strength. The mood was tense, the survivors still shaken by their ordeal. But they were grateful to be alive, and they were determined to make the most of it.
Jack's gaze is brought to Mckenna when she suddenly sat up with a loud gasp. Her eyes were wide with fear, her body trembling. He quickly moved closer to her, wrapping his arms around her in a tight embrace.
"Hey, hey. You're okay. You're safe." He whispered soothingly, rubbing her back. Mckenna's breathing was rapid and uneven, her heart racing.
"I-I thought we were dead, Jack." She sobs clinging onto him. "I-I thought we were gone." Her face brightens more when she spotted her older brother. "Davey! You're alive!" She exclaimed happily, jumping to her feet despite still being quite weak and shaky. She stumbled over to him and Rose, pulling her brother into a tight hug.
"Sis! Thank God you're alright!" David exclaims, tears streaming down his cheeks as he held her close. "I-I was so scared I had lost you." He was still weak and shaky, but his strength was returning.
"I'm here, Davey." Mckenna reassures him, pulling back from the hug and turning her attention to Rose. She hugged her, her gaze filled with worry. "I'm so glad you're okay." She murmured, her voice choked with emotion.
Rose smiles weakly, her body trembling. She was exhausted and cold, but she was relieved that they had survived. "Me too." She whispered, hugging her back.
"Sir, ma'am, I don't think you'll have anyone down here. This is the steerage section." They heard a man speak to a couple, but Mckenna and David were shocked and relieved when they heard their mom's voice.
"My kids are here somewhere." She replied, her voice filled with determination. "They survived, I know it. They have to be here."
"Ma! We're over here!" David shouted out, his voice hoarse and strained. His gaze is locked on his parents as they rushed over to him. David and Mckenna stand to hug their parents, a group hug taking place.
"My babies! I was so worried about you two." Their mother cries, her voice trembling with emotion. "We were so scared. But you made it. Oh my gosh, you made it!" She couldn't stop crying, and David and Mckenna couldn't help but cry too. They had survived the worst nightmare imaginable, and now they were finally reunited with their family.
William held them tightly and even he was tearing up. And he didn't normally cry. But he couldn't believe it, he couldn't believe that they had made it. They had survived. And it was the most beautiful feeling in the world.
"We're so glad you guys are okay." Mckenna whispers, her voice breaking. She had never felt so relieved in her entire life. She couldn't believe they had actually made it. It felt like a dream. "I missed you guys. And I love you so much." She didn't know how she had been so lucky to have survived, but she was eternally grateful.
