I wake up early the next morning. My bed was unusually hard and cold. I turned on my side and rubbed my arm. I tried to go back to sleep, but I heard a small grunt. I narrowed my eyebrows, but I was too lazy to open my eyes. I hear a small snore. I always suspected Mal snored. I rub my eyes and yawn. A foot kicked mine from behind me. I opened my eyes and saw Jay right next to me. I looked over and saw Carlos on my other side. "Why are guys in here!" I yell. They both wake up. Carlos started to yell. Jay was still sleepy; he didn't care. When we all finally realized where we were, on the kitchen floor, we all stood up. "Do any of you remember falling asleep there last night?" I say in a panic. "I can't believe I slept on something so dirty." Carlos says in disgust. Jay and I slowly turn to him. "What?" Carlos asks us confused. It's just the fact that the floor is as clean as hand sanitizer compared to the aisle. "Your hair is kind of a mess, Y/n." He goes to touch my hair. I smack his hand away. Jay rubs his eyes. "The last thing I remember is you telling us we can finally get to bed." Jay told me. "Well, it looks like we didn't make it very far." I placed my hands on my hips. "Does anybody know the time?" Jay asks. I look at the clock on the wall. "7:15" Carlos crosses his arms. There is still plenty of time to get ready. "The coronation doesn't start until noon, right?" Jay asks. "Yeah." Carlos confirms. "It only takes like an hour to get ready... what do we do in the meantime?" Jay asks. We all look at each other. "I'll grab the cookies." I say and walk over to it. Carlos walks out of the kitchen. Jay holds the door for me, and he exits himself. We all went back to their dorms before we knew it. We were all dead asleep.
The next thing I knew, I rolled off Jay's bed. Jay sits up quickly from the sound. I heard him snicker. "What time is it?" I say, rubbing my head. "9:30" He answers. "I'm using your guys' shower." I say and pull myself across the floor. I crawl back up to my feet and open his door. "Take your time, Y/n." Jay teases.
I walk into the boys' shower. It didn't really register where I actually was. I stretch and walk past someone. "Morning Rupert." He stops and just stares at me. "What are you doing in here?" I already stopped and realized. I slowly turned back to him. He had a towel around his waist. That. Was. It. His hair was damp from the shower. He smelled like mint and pine cone? No, cinnamon. Either way, he smelled amazing. I smiled spread across my face before I even knew it. "Why are you even in here?" Rupert asks again. I finally make eye contact. "Oh, I was just going to take a shower." I say. "In the boy's shower?" He questioned. I shrugged my shoulders. "It was the closest one." His brows furrowed. "I just left Jay's. We fell asleep in the kit-chen..." I remembered why I was in the kitchen in the first place. I remembered what I needed to do. "Why were you in the kitchen?" He crossed his arms. I already had a lie on hand. "I had a horrible day yesterday. I needed a distraction. I couldn't sleep, as well." He looked down. "Yeah, about yesterday -"
"I really don't want to talk about it. I'm just happy to find out how you think of me." I smile at him. He looks back up at me. "That's not what I meant. I'm sorry for how I acted. I was completely immature about the whole thing. I hope you can forgive me." Never in my life has a man ever apologized to me or even owned up to his mistakes. I didn't know what to say. Crap, why does it always seem like he has the upper hand. "Can you please say something. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions about you and Jay. That wasn't fair, and I realized." I tried not to get inside my head. I don't want to break down again. Especially in front of him. "I'm not sure what to say, Rupert." I say honestly. It wasn't very often. When I was honest since I got here. I feel different around him. I guess maybe this is what love was. A special trust between just two people. I wasn't familiar with the feeling, but I could get used to it. I walk closer to Rupert, and I kiss him. He wasn't exactly ready for it. He didn't pull away either. He placed his hand on the side of my cheek. His thumb touched my nose. I placed my hands on his cold collarbones. The touch of skin reminded me he had only a towel on him. His hand moved to the back of my neck. Some of my hair was between his fingers. His fingers felt dewy and smooth across my skin. Probably because of his former shower. We finally parted our lips from the mini make-out. "I forgive you." I say with a smile. He smiles at me and pulls his hand away. "I have to go get ready, Y/n." He says. I nod. "Me too."
"Piece of advice?" He offers. "Hmm?"
"Maybe you should take showers in the girl's dorm. You never know when a male student will walk in." I roll my eyes. "Fine." He kisses my nose. "I'll see you at the coronation." He says and walks away. I couldn't help but smile. A really smile. Emotions. I wasn't used to it at all. I was slightly addicted already.
