BY THE AFTERNOON THE STORM turned into a mere drizzle, leaving dark clouds hanging low above the city. It was almost as if the storm mirrored Ada's emotions; first tense and then relaxed.

The girl was applying finishing touches to her makeup and hair. Her look consisted of a slight curl to her usually straight blonde hair, heavy black smokey eyeshadow with lines running from her eyes down her cheeks, as well as black lipstick. It could only be described as light corpse paint, which was exactly the look she was going for. If she was going to a metal party she had to look the part.

After finishing her makeup in the mirror, the girl glanced at the clock. 8:30 pm. Annie would be here in half an hour, and Ada had yet to put on some appropriate clothes.

Rummaging through her closet, she searched for a fitting band tee and a jacket that would fit the aesthetic. After searching for some time she found a Black Sabbath shirt which she wore over her fishnet sleeves and a battle jacket with patches and pins of her favourite bands. Her black jeans were ripped at the knees and on her legs, she wore some cheap combat boots.

"You look hot." The loud voice of Elin ran gout causing Ada to jump.

"Thanks, El." She spoke with uncertainty

Ada looked in the mirror, putting her hands in her pockets, looking as unsure as ever. "I think I'm ready." She looked at her sister.

"I think so too, now get downstairs Annie's just pulling up." Just as she spoke a car horn blared through the small apartment, signalling the arrival of her ride.

Smiling, Ada checked herself out in the mirror one last time before giving a quick hug to her sister.

"Be safe." was all Elin told her before letting her go to the door.

Nodding her head Ada made her way to the door, but not before peaking outside to see Ann-Marit's red beat-up Volvo parked outside.

"See you soon El." Said the girl before opening the front door and heading to the car. Elin nodded and closed the front door behind her.

Running quickly through the rain with her hands covering her freshly done make-up, Ada opened the door to the Volvo and hopped inside the front passenger seat.

"Glad you decided to come along" Ann said smiling, "I heard these guys are super fucked so you'll fit right in." She said jokingly causing Ada to snort.

Ann was dressed more casually, in a red jacket, black leather pants, and neatly done hair. Her usual cigarette was in her hand as she turned on the ignition and began pulling out of the driveway.

The drive to the Henhouse was slow. The only sounds heard were the low hum of the engine and the occasional flick of Ann's lighter. By now the rain had fully stopped, and Ada realised how much she missed the ever-so-quiet banging of raindrops against the windshield. The city was starting to fade, being replaced by the forest and dark green scenery. The closer they got the more nervous Ada felt. She didn't know what and who to expect, so she was on edge the entire time.

As they neared their destination the two women could see a faint outline of flames and extremely loud music. The house was nondescript, with boarded-up windows. Ann nudged Ada with her elbow, "You good?"

Ada took a deep breath as she saw the amount of people in front of the house. "Yeah yeah, peachy..." she said coolly trying to mask her growing anxiety.

Ann just shrugged as she pulled in front of the house.

There were so many people out front, some were screaming, some were dancing and most of them were drinking. You got this, you got this... Ada repeated internally like a mantra. Stepping out of the car she was hit by a cold breeze, so she huddled with Annie for warmth.
