ADA WAS SITTING IN SOME RUN-DOWN CAFE under a bridge with Øystein as the pair waited for Varg to arrive. He was going to be let out of jail any minute now since the police had no evidence to keep him with. The day was fairly sunny, so she wore her favourite Black Sabbath tee and her ripped black jeans. At the same time, Øystein wore his signature black leather jacket and spiked cuffs.
She observed the people walking past them, thinking about how their lives were probably so normal compared to hers... Then she looked over at her boyfriend.
"Just... Don't snap at him alright? Be calm." Said Ada as she took a sip of her tea.
He just hummed in response as he continued to read through the Kerrang magazine with Varg on the front cover.
"Speak of the devil," Ada muttered as she looked up from her mug and saw the infamous Kristian approaching.
"Can you fucking believe it?" Øystein closed the magazine and placed it on the table cover facing up. "Kerrang?!" He pointed at Varg's face on the cover.
"Congratulations Varg." Ada faked a smile, causing Øystein to give her a confused look.
The man on the cover picked up the magazine and looked at it intensely for a few minutes before pausing and looking at both Ada and Øystein. "It's weird." He spoke.
"Your name is all over the magazine." Varg continued, placing the magazine back on the table.
"Says the guy on the cover." Øystein tried to seem enthusiastic, but it was clear he was uncomfortable being next to Varg.
Varg rolled his eyes and eyed Ada with an indecipherable look. "I'm on the cover because I talked to the press. And now you're taking credit for that." He seemed mildly annoyed. "And you were against that, remember?"
"Yeah, I was not against it. I was just–" Øystein got cut off by Varg.
"Fuck, you always do that." Varg grinned, "Take credit for everything."
Varg got comfortable in his chair, "You think you're the brains behind it all?" The rant started.
"What do you mean?" Ada and Øystein said in unison, as the girl put her tea down. But they barely got to finish the sentence before Varg continued
"We all took action except for you two. You did nothing. I'm the one hounded by journalists. I"m the one who can't show my fucking face without being recognized."
Ada rolled her eyes, and now Varg was making himself a victim. She stepped in, "It's worth isn't it?" She began, "How does it feel?"
Varg was taken aback that she had the nerve to cut him off mid-rant, but he paused. "What the hell are you talking about?" He asked.
"Being a celebrity." Øystein filled in, seeing where Ada was going. "You should enjoy the fucking ride." He said sternly while glaring daggers at Varg.
Varg paused for a moment again before continuing, "I'm going to release music on my own label." He stated calmly, his gaze moving from Ada to Øystein.
"What does that mean?" Asked the girl. How dare Varg just drop Øystein's label like that?
"I don't need you anymore." Varg glared at Øystein.
Øystein opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. He thought for a moment, trying to find the right words to say before a smile appeared on his face. He tapped Varg's knee, "If that's what you want, okay" He tried to seem unaffected by his words.
But Varg wasn't done.
"You're going to have to find another idiot to steal everything from."
The couple looked confused.
