Chapter 1

Aebelle jolted awake, her heart pounding in her chest. She stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, the strange patterns swirling before her eyes. "H-hello?" she croaked, her voice barely a whisper.

The door creaked open, and two figures entered the room. The first, a man with kind eyes and silver hair, smiled reassuringly. "Don't be afraid, Miss Runemind," he said. "It's okay."

The second figure, a woman with sharp, intelligent eyes and a stern expression, flicked on the light switch. Aebelle squinted, blinking away the sudden brightness. Her eyes fell upon the woman, her face etched with worry.

"W-where am I?" Aebelle stammered, her voice catching in her throat.

"You're in a room at Beacon Academy," the woman replied, her tone firm yet gentle. "A rather secluded one, I might add."

Beacon Academy... Aebelle's mind raced. The name echoed in her memory, a faint whisper of something she'd heard before. "Beacon... Academy..." she repeated, her voice echoing the uncertainty in her heart.

The man, Ozpin, spoke again, his voice calm and reassuring. "You must be dazed. Take your time to recollect yourself, Miss Runemind."

"But... how did I get here?" Aebelle pressed, her brow furrowed in confusion.

Ozpin's expression softened. "There was a beam of light, in the Emerald Forest. We went to investigate, and then we found you."

"I was sleeping in my bed," Aebelle said, her voice laced with confusion. "Then the next thing I know, I'm here."

Ozpin's eyes held a hint of something... intrigue, perhaps? "Your mother, was her name Marissa Runemind?" he asked gently.

Aebelle's eyes widened. "Y-yeah, but how'd you know my mother?"

Ozpin's smile was a flicker of warmth in the cool air of the room. "Your mother used to attend this academy many years ago, Miss Runemind."

Aebelle's mind struggled to grasp the sudden revelation. "Oh, right... my mom did tell me about... what was it... Beacon? Beacon Academy?"
