The forest echoed with the sounds of rustling leaves and the frantic beating of Aebelle's heart. She'd been searching for the other team members for hours, her unease growing with each step. Alone, she always felt capable, but the thought of relying on others, of being part of a team, filled her with a strange anxiety.
"What is that thing!?" she gasped, her eyes widening as a hulking Ursa Grimm leaped from the shadows, its claws outstretched.
She dodged the attack by a hair's breadth, adrenaline coursing through her veins. But the Ursa's brute strength and menacing growl left her shaken.
Just then, a familiar voice cut through the tense silence.
"Helloooooooo? Is anyone out there?" Yang Xiao Long's cheerful call drifted through the trees. Aebelle, heart pounding, ducked behind a thick trunk, watching as Yang's bright yellow jacket appeared, a stark contrast against the green foliage.
"I'm getting bored here!" Yang's voice rang out, followed by the sound of rustling bushes. "Ruby, is that you?"
Aebelle held her breath, her eyes glued to the scene unfolding before her. Yang, oblivious to the lurking danger, peered into the bushes.
The Ursa let out a low growl, revealing itself to Yang. Aebelle flinched, her hand instinctively reaching for her weapon.
"Nope!" Yang exclaimed, her face breaking into a grin as she spotted the creature.
Aebelle watched in disbelief as Yang charged at the Ursa, a whirlwind of punches and kicks. She even managed to slip in a roundhouse kick with a fiery fist, sending the Ursa reeling.
"You guys wouldn't happen to have seen a girl in a red hood, would you?" Yang called out to the Ursa, her voice laced with amusement.
Aebelle peeked out from behind the tree, unable to contain her surprise. This... this was completely different from the solo training she was used to. This Yang was something else entirely.
"Yang! Are you okay!?" Aebelle called out, concern filling her voice.
Yang, mid-battle, glanced over her shoulder, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Geeezz, you two couldn't hit the broad side of a..."
Before she could finish, a single strand of her golden hair fell, landing on the forest floor. Aebelle's heart skipped a beat.
"You..." Yang's voice trailed off, her violet eyes flickering shut. When she opened them, they blazed with an unnerving crimson glow, sending a wave of confusion through the Ursa.
