The Undefeatable Natural Predator

(There's nothing to be scared of)

The mongoose kept swinging his claws, slamming them into the ground and slicing through trees like butter.

(I'm no match for those claws, but my vision lets me dodge his attacks.)

I dodged underneath his claws, positioning myself underneath him and uppercutting.

(When the moments right, ILL NAIL HIM!)

he smiled as he kicked me away, leaving no scratch left.

(What!)

"During our last fight my thick hide wasn't what it used to be. I was starving for Ani-humans and so my coat was diminishing. But now, I have a natural cushion against any attack you give me!"

"Mongoose darling, finish her off fast. I swear the predators never listen to me."

(As soon as I hit him I knew. I stood no chance.)

"Wake up!" 

(What? W-why am I asleep right now?)

"Wake up!"

I opened my eyes. I was in...class? More importantly. A middle school. 

"Dude, wake up! Your going to get detention!" 

I looked around, it was my middle school. Before kingdom. Before I was an Ani-human. However, one thing hasn't changed. I'm still the angry, loner nobody. The basic guy in school with no friends. No matter if it was group assignments, field trips, or assemblies it was always the same.

I was always alone.

"Wake up Kuroi!"

And so, I did nothing. I slept all day. My grades were failing, my family despised me, and eventually I was taken. Turned into a freak, and brought to Kingdom.

"Wake Up Kuroi!

Nothing's changed. And nothing never will.

"WAKE UP!"

I opened my eyes, as Yumie holding the arms of the Mongoose man back yelled at me, her face and body covered in blood.

"KUROI WAKE THE FUCK UP!" 

"W-what. What is Yumie doing? And that man?"

"Oh, you woke up quicker than most. My suffocation tactic seems to be worse than it used to."

I haven't known Kuroi for long. But, unlike most people nowadays he went out of his way to help me save Yadoko and he took it upon himself to become my friend. So even if I die, I'd prefer to die trying.

"Oh well, I can still kill you myself! Dead or alive you're still just a bag of flesh!"

I jumped in front of Murin as her nails slashed my arm. 

"Go! Run! I'll hold them off, just run!" 

"W-what!"

I couldn't imagine it. Yumie was taken here, against her will and yet she risks her own life to save someone she barley knows. Why?

"So Yumie?"

"Hmm?"

"When you saved that girl at the park and how you saved Yadoko earlier. You must like her don't you?"

"W-what! N-no! I-its not like that is it?!"

"It totally is! No way you do that for just anyone!"

I took another drink of the beer, crushing the can on my head and throwing it away. Yumie blushed as she took another sip, placing it down and twiddling her fingers.
