ZOE POV.
The first rays of the morning sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a soft, golden light across our new home. It had been two days since our wedding, and the excitement of the ceremony was still fresh in our minds, but now, the reality of moving into this grand Mumbai mansion was setting in. The house was a beautiful chaos of unpacked boxes, scattered packing materials, and a sense of both wonder and responsibility.
I woke up early, as I had grown accustomed to in the quieter moments of our life before the move. The early light was gentle and serene, and it offered a rare moment of calm amidst the whirlwind of our new beginning. I sat up in bed, taking in the elegant room that was now ours. The soft, plush bedding and the beautifully arranged furniture made the space feel like a luxurious retreat, yet there was a cozy, inviting warmth to it that made me smile.
Veer was still asleep beside me, his peaceful expression a reminder of how much we had been through together. I watched him for a few moments, savoring the tranquility of the morning. His presence, so close and comforting, was a constant source of strength and joy in this new chapter of our lives.
I slipped out of bed quietly, careful not to disturb him, and made my way to the kitchen. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee greeted me as I entered, thanks to the early start of our new chef, Mr. Sharma. He was a kind man with a warm smile, always ready to make our lives easier.
"Good morning, Mrs. Mehta," Mr. Sharma said with a cheerful tone as he prepared breakfast. "I hope you slept well. There's a fresh pot of coffee and some pastries if you'd like."
I returned his smile, feeling a mix of gratitude and bemusement. "Good morning, Mr. Sharma. I slept wonderfully, thank you. I'll have some coffee and a pastry, please."
As I sipped the rich, aromatic coffee and enjoyed a flaky croissant, I looked out at the city through the large windows. The bustling streets of Mumbai were beginning to stir, and the view was a fascinating blend of modernity and tradition. The energy of the city felt vibrant and alive, a stark contrast to the serene comfort of our new home.
The minutes ticked by, and soon, the soft sound of footsteps and a faint rustling of the bed linens signaled that Veer was awake. I turned to see him walking into the kitchen, his hair tousled from sleep but his eyes bright and attentive.
"Morning, love," he said, his voice a warm, soothing balm against the chill of the early hour. He walked over to me, pressing a tender kiss to my forehead before settling into the chair beside me. "How was your night?"
I smiled, feeling a rush of affection at his touch. "It was wonderful. This place is starting to feel like home already."
Veer reached for a pastry, breaking it apart with a casual ease. "I'm glad to hear that. I know it's a lot to take in, but I'm here to help make it all feel right."
We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast together, talking about the day ahead and our plans for the house. The conversation was light and filled with laughter, a comforting reminder of the bond we shared. As we finished eating, Veer looked at me with a playful glint in his eye.
"So, are you ready to tackle the mountain of boxes that awaits us?" he asked, his tone teasing but filled with genuine enthusiasm.
I chuckled, nodding. "I am. Let's make some progress today. I'm excited to see how everything comes together."
With our spirits high and a shared sense of purpose, we set about the task of unpacking. The house, though still filled with boxes and packing materials, was beginning to reveal its potential. The rooms were spacious and filled with natural light, and every corner seemed to hold the promise of comfort and beauty.
