"Wait, you thief!" Akari kept following the thief and hoped anyone who'd hear him being called a thief would catch that thief.

The high heels she wore were troubling her and hindering her from running at her full speed. That's why she paused for a second, took off her heels and started running barefooted.

"I said, wait, you damn thief!" She screamed again. Ouch…! Even after the rocky path stung her feet, she didn't stop. Nor did the thief. So she did the only thing she could think of.

She threw her heel.

And it hit him harshly. Akari increased her speed and threw the other heel. The red heel collided right behind his head, making him grunt in pain.

Akari finally caught up to the thief and grabbed him by the arm. Quickly, she twisted his arm behind to prevent him from making a move. "Stealing a precious object from an old woman- shame on you!"

She was about to lecture the robber more but stopped when the thief caught her arm with his other hand. Her eyes shot up when she saw that the thief's, a human, appearance changed and became one of that of a servant of darkness.

No! It was a bait! The empty place without a single soul now made sense to her.

"I've finally caught yo-" Before he could finish speaking, Akari packed a punch on his face, resulting in him moving back and freeing her. She took the opportunity and ran back the way she came from as fast as she could. Unfortunately for her, the minion also rushed after her.

My legs hurt but…. I can't stop…! She ran. And ran. And ran. Until….

"You have to be kidding me!" She took a wrong turn and came across a dead end. "Not this again!"

The minion had caught up to her and stood only a few feet away from her. It looked scarily angry after getting beaten by Akari like that. It shed off its human skin and became an ominous black, glowing being.

To her surprise, it didn't stop there as more of them appeared. So many that she lost count. She had really fallen into a trap.

She gulped in fear. She absolutely hated that form because she couldn't land a single hit on them.

"Evil spirits begone!" She mimicked the angels but of course, it wouldn't work without any active divine power. She had no escape so she automatically closed her eyes. It made her realize the painful reality. No matter how well-versed she was in martial arts and self-defense, before such otherworldly beings, she was a mere weak human.

Someone help….. Eiichi!!!

As soon as she thought of him, a warm, bright glow surrounded her. It was more powerful than she remembered. Relief immediately flooded her when she felt a familiar pair of arms hold her close.

"Keep your eyes closed." He murmured right by her ear. In reply, she wrapped her arms around him and clutched his vest. Screams of the minions horrified her. It was a never before occurance. And the smell… was so pungent! Before this, these minions didn't scream or had a smell. Clinging on to him, she tried to keep her focus only on him.

Were the enemies this time that powerful that he had to use his divine energy in more than one shot? The battle kept going on for a while.

"It's over now." Slowly, she opened her eyes, not yet loosening her arms around him. She couldn't but admit that her body had frozen from fear. Eiichi also noticed it. She was shaking.

Sighing, he stroked her hair gently. "You're off the hook for now but be prepared once we head back."

"Eiichi…" she mumbled. "The granny's purse and necklace…"
