[FOUR MONTHS LATER]

West picks up her heavy luggage from the baggage claim and drags it behind her. The wheels squeak against the airport tile as she struggles to keep pace with the crowd moving around her. Before she can get too far, Daniel appears from behind and easily grabs the handle, taking over.

West: (groaning) Okay, I really appreciate it, but I definitely had that.
Daniel: (annoyed) Oh, I'm sorry, I couldn't tell from all the huffing and puffing you were doing trying to get it off the ground. Looked like a full workout from where I was standing.

He frowns at her, walking ahead effortlessly with their bags. West rolls her eyes as she follows. As they make their way through the terminal, West's gaze shifts to the large sign hanging above them: Welcome to Miami International Airport.

Is this thing on? Hello? Hey guys, it's me again. I took a short break because, you know, big move to college and stuff, but after these last four months? Yeah, I think we need an in-depth analysis. Let's just say... things got complicated.

[FOUR MONTHS EARLIER]

Brad: (grinning) Hey guys, I want you to meet Maggie. We've been seeing each other for a little bit now.

Maggie, looking slightly nervous but trying to keep her cool, offers a small wave to the group.

Maggie: Hi, West.

West's smile falters. She can feel her heart race but forces herself to respond.

West: (tightly) Maggie.

The air becomes thick with tension. Avery, standing next to West, lets out an exaggerated scoff under her breath, loud enough for everyone to hear. Benny stands with his arms crossed, glaring at Maggie as if she'd shown up to a reunion she wasn't invited to.

Brad: (confused, glancing between them) Wait, how do you guys know each other?

West swallows hard, her voice clipped but firm.

West: We... used to be friends.

The weight of those words hangs in the air. West's eyes narrow, remembering the history between her and Maggie, a friendship that had once meant everything and then fell apart in the worst way.

Maggie shifts her feet uncomfortably but manages to speak, her voice soft.

Maggie: (quietly) It's been a long time.
Avery: (sarcastic, crossing her arms) Oh, we know.

Benny raises an eyebrow, clearly on edge.

Benny: And now you're... what, dating Brad? Wow. Small world. Or just bad luck?

Brad looks at the group, completely taken off guard by the hostility.

Brad: Whoa, wait. What's going on here? This is the literal complete opposite of what I thought you guys would do.

West forces a neutral expression, refusing to let her emotions get the best of her.

West: It's... nothing. Ancient history.
Avery: Yeah, ancient, like dinosaurs. Fossil-level ancient.

Maggie bites her lip, clearly uncomfortable but trying to stay calm.

Maggie: I didn't come here to start anything. Brad didn't know about... well, any of this.

West nods stiffly, trying to compose herself, but inside she's spiraling. She never thought she'd have to face Maggie again, let alone in a situation like this. West gets up and walks away with Maggie chasing behind her.
