The Jeon house was rather quiet. The couple were quietly watching a film on TV, Jongsu sitting in one of the armchairs, his eyes glued to his phone. And unusually, Jin was there too: he and Namjoon were redecorating their house, so he'd come to pick up some old photos from high school to hang on the walls. The young man leafed through the albums on the dining room table. It wasn't often that the atmosphere was so relaxed here, so he preferred to make the most of it. Even Jongsu had been strangely quiet recently. He preferred to think it was because he had matured.

However, the soothing silence was soon broken by the ringing of a mobile, and Hyeri left her comfortable position on the sofa to grab the vibrating object from the coffee table. But a glance at the screen was enough to make her face turn white as a sheet. The ringing continued for a long time, soon attracting the attention of the other Jeons, while Hyeri looked as if she had been transformed into a statue, her eyes slightly wide, never leaving her phone.

"Is there a problem, darling?" Jungyung asked, his eyebrows furrowed.

The woman finally seemed to come out of her torpor, but simply showed him the phone, without saying a word. And when Jungyung's gaze fell on the screen, he too paled. This reaction was not missed by their children.

"What's going on?" Jin asked. "Who's it? Why aren't you picking up?"

Their parents didn't answer the question, Jungyung just sighed, looking visibly worried.

"Go back to your rooms." he ordered. "It's important."

Jin and Jongsu exchanged puzzled looks before reluctantly complying. They left the living room with slow, hesitant steps. The couple waited until they heard the two doors slam before finally answering. Hyeri slowly brought the mobile to her ear, expecting angry screams, but no. She was greeted by a heavy silence.

"You have failed."

A deep, masculine voice, authoritative and cold. Hyeri shivered. She felt her whole body stiffen and her blood run cold. She had always dreaded this call.

"W-What do you mean? I-I... I-I don't understand..."

Another silence.

"The engagement has been broken off."

Hyeri widened her eyes, suddenly feeling the world spin around her. It took her breath away.

"P-Pardon? N-No, that's impossible, I personally made sure that-"

"John just called me." continued the man without letting her explain. "He's decided to break off the engagement and go back to New York."

This time, Hyeri didn't bother to reply. She was far too shocked for that. The man didn't seem to care.

"You had only one thing to do, and you failed miserably. After all I've done for you."

"I-I'm sorry... I promise I'll make it right... Just give me a little time, please..."

"That won't be necessary." he cut her off. "I've already given you enough time. And you've proved me wrong. I'm going to solve this problem in my own way."

The shock in Hyeri's eyes was suddenly replaced by deep panic. Her eyes filled with tears and her whole body began to tremble. Seeing his wife in this state, Jungyung began to worry seriously.

"Dear? What's going on-"

"No!" exclaimed Hyeri. "Please, let me do it! Don't interfere, I beg you!"

"It's too late to beg, Hyeri."

The woman shook her head frantically!

"Stop it, please! This is my son! This is my son we're talking about! Don't touch him, I beg you!"

"It was the contract, Hyeri. I'm just asking for what I was promised."

"No! No, please-"

"You know what you have to do."

The man hung up, while Hyeri was still pleading him. When she realised that he wasn't listening to her anymore, she threw the phone violently against the wall, shattering before smashing on the floor. She then buried her face in her hands.

"Darling?" Jungyung tried. "What did he say? Why are you in such a state?"

Hyeri didn't answer, her body still trembling. She took deep breaths, trying in vain to calm herself down.

"Call Jin". she finally whispered through her fingers.

Jungyung frowned.

"Why?"

"Just do as I say. And tell him to bring Jungkook. Quickly."

Taehyung pressed his face into the nape of Jungkook's neck, inhaling his delicious scent. He placed a few chaste kisses on his milky skin, while he was still half asleep. He felt the boy start to wriggle in response, so he tightened his grip around his waist to keep him against him. Then resumed his kisses.

"Hyungie..." Jungkook whined.

His only response was a hoarse laugh.

"You smell so good, babe..." muttered the man. "How do you make your perfume so addictive?"

Jungkook opened his eyes slowly, a smile forming on his lips.

"That's my little secret." he replied teasingly. "If I tell you, the spell will be broken and you'll lose interest in me."

Taehyung shook his head, his hair tickling the teenager's nostrils.

"No, that's impossible."

Jungkook finally straightened up, without attracting a growl from Taehyung, who buried his face in the boy's pillow to continue to smell his scent. However, fingers curled around his black locks, tenderly urging him to show his face. Of course, Taehyung cooperated.

"Still, I didn't think John would give up so quickly." Jungkook admitted. "The fact that he broke off the engagement without protesting was a surprise."

Taehyung bit his cheek. Not so much without protest, he thought. They hadn't had much time to talk about what had happened last night. The rest of Bangtan had left rather late, and after that they had gone straight to bed. But Jungkook could see that Taehyung's facial expression had changed slightly.

"There's something you're not telling me, right?"

Taehyung shook his head, but his big doe eyes gave him away.

"Hyungie, what happened last night?"

The two stared at each other for a moment, before the man let out a long sigh.

"That little bastard came to threaten me into breaking with you, and I threatened him back. In the end, everything ended well, because he broke off the engagement and left without batting an eyelid."

Jungkook's eyes widened.

"What?! What did he say, Hyungie-"

He was cut off by his phone, which suddenly started ringing. The two men frowned, and their surprise only increased when they saw who it was.

"Jin hyung? What could he want with me at this time?" Jungkook wondered.

Taehyung shrugged his shoulders and watched him answer silently.

"Hello, hyung? Is there a problem?"

"No, well, I don't know..." Jin whispered into the phone. "Mom got a call, and she's been looking panicked ever since... You'll have to come over, Kook... She's only asking for you. She won't say anything until you get here."

Jungkook's face darkened immediately. That was trouble. Especially for him. But Hyeri was still his mother, and knowing she was in such distress worried him a little.

"Okay, I'm coming."
