Hezekiah's POV

Isa lang ang nasa isip ko noong mga oras na 'yon, it was an answer to my prayer—a calling that I must answer immediately.

I reached for the crucifix. It was simple, made of wood, with a small figure of Christ carved into it.

Guide me tonight, Lord.

After twenty minutes I arrived in a quiet neighborhood. The unease that had been gnawing at me all evening only intensified. The street was eerily empty, and the dim lights were flickering. I approached the gate, and pressed the doorbell, listening as it echoed faintly inside.

A few moments passed, and I heard a soft click of the gate unlocking. I pushed the gate and walked up the path to the front door. It was ajar, slightly creaking as the night breeze nudged a bit back and forth.

My heart pounded in my chest as I carefully stepped inside, calling out, "Doktora Fariñas?"

I called her again.

The house was dimly lit, shadows creeping along the walls. Finally, I realized something was wrong. I scanned the room, my gaze settling on a figure lying on the floor near the couch.

I rushed, dropping to my knees beside her. My fingers found her pulse—steady, but she wasn't responding.
