Hezekiah's POV
THE sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the courtyard of San Lazaro Academy. Pabalik na ako sa faculty room nang marinig ko ang ingay at tunog ng mga yabag sa basketball court. Napatigil ako nang gumulong ang bola sa paanan ko. Pinulot ko 'yon at nakita 'di kalayuan ang mga estudyante.
"Good afternoon po, Father Kai!" bati nila sa'kin. "Isang moves naman diyan, Father!"
I chuckled. A playful challenge sparkled in my mind. Pinulot ko 'yon at nag-dribble palapit sa kanila, naghiyawan sila pati ang mga nanonood sa bench.
One of my students stepped up to guard me as I dribbled the ball. I hadn't played basketball in years, but the familiar rhythm of the game came back to me as I maneuvered around him.
"Go, Father Kai!" the girls screamed to cheer me.
I feinted to the right, and then quickly crossed over to the left, catching him off guard. Nakuha ko 'yong pagkakataon para makaabante. I didn't realize the crowd was anticipating in excitement.

"Father Kai! Isa pa! Isa pa!" the crowd cheered and I motioned to shush them. Pero mukhang ayaw nilang umawat kaya tinangagap ko 'yung bola.
"Three-points naman diyan, Father!"
I accepted the challenge, the students cleared a path and I walked beyond the three-point line. Natahimik ang buong paligid at inabangan ang sumunod kong hakbang.
Sumulyap ako sa ring saka huminga nang malalim. With a smooth motion, I dribbled once and set my feet. The ball felt right in my hands, and as I lifted it, the world seemed to slow down. I released the ball, watching it sail through the air.
Napigil ang hininga ng mga manonood, at pagkatapos ay sakto at swabeng pumasok ang bola sa net. Muling nagdiwang ang paligid.
"Tumira si Father ng tres—God bless!" sigaw pa ng isa at hindi ko napigilang matawa. These kids are full of vitality and energy, I admire their youth and joy in life.
"Dati po ba kayong professional basketball player? Ang galing n'yo po!" puri pa ng isa at umiling lang ako.
"Just a lucky shot," I said and beamed a smile. That was fun. "Enjoy your summer vacation, kids. I'll see you next school year."
