—     The academy had grown quieter over the years, its once-bustling halls now filled with an eerie stillness as the five remaining children grew into adults and left. In one of the secluded wings of the house, a room had been transformed into a high-tech sanctuary of sorts— a place where science and desperation met. This was where Rowan had been kept, her body encased in the Electromagnetic Stabilization Chamber that Reginald Hargreeves had designed to keep her stable, to prevent the energy within her from destroying her entirely.

She was a bomb in herself, able to ignite the air with static electricity while also feeding off it. She was a battery that recharged itself the stronger it got, limits (seemingly) endless.

The chamber hummed softly, its walls lined with intricate circuitry and emitters that constantly monitored and adjusted the electromagnetic fields surrounding Rowan. The technology was beyond anything conventional science had achieved, perhaps beyond even the earth itself. The chamber kept her safe, kept her from slipping further into the abyss that her powers had created, but it wasn't a solution— it was a bandaid, a temporary measure until Reginald could find a way to wake her safely.

For years, Reginald had worked tirelessly, pushing the boundaries of what was possible in his quest to wake her. He had poured over research, conducted countless experiments, and explored every avenue, no matter how extreme. And finally, he had developed an Energy-Absorbing Serum— a serum that he believed would neutralize the excess energy in Rowan's body, allowing her to awaken from her coma. In simpler terms, a way to drain her battery close to zero.

But fate had intervened most cruelly. Reginald had died the night before he could administer the serum, his final experiment left unfinished. One task remained—a task that Pogo had been entrusted with in Reginald's final moments.

The chimp stood in front of the chamber, his eyes scanning the readouts on the monitors that surrounded it. Rowan's vital signs were stable, as they had been for years, thanks to the chamber's delicate balance of electromagnetic fields. But without the serum, she would remain in this state, caught between life and death, her powers locked in an endless cycle of absorption and containment.
