You know, I probably shouldn't have said that to him because now I am standing outside his office, the next day, for a meeting. I knocked on the door and waited for a response.

"Come in" I hear him say softly.

I entered the room to see a slouching Simon with eyes distant from reality. He spun in his chair while I sat down.

"You okay?" I ask, genuinely concerned.

"Why do you care?" He says, clearly annoyed.

"Who said I cared, I don't" I replied with a poker face.

I don't know why but his expression dropped instantly. Ignoring it, I started to name the sponsors for the photo shoot but he kept quiet. I felt like I was lecturing him instead of it being a normal conversation. I couldn't take it anymore,

"Okay, what happened?" I ask

"What do you mean?" He answers.

"I am the only one doing the talking, you're supposed to be telling me your opinions and what you want but you're just sitting there like a kid in time-out" I tell him.

"Since you want to know so bad, Jane and I broke up." He says softly.

"So why are you sad? You're the one who kept ditching her," I say.

"No, I'm not upset because of that, I'm upset because I made a deal with Jane's dad to date her and in return, he would pay off the company's debts " He lets out.

"So it was all fake?" I continue asking

"Basically, yeah" He says.

"Does Jane know?" I ask again.

"Yes she does, She just wanted it to seem real but I just can't pretend to love someone" He confesses.

We had a long conversation about how they were forced in a relationship even though Jane had someone in mind. I couldn't help but feel bad so I did what any random stranger would do..

"I could fund your company" I blurted out.

"What?" he says with confusion.

"I could use some of my payment from my company to fund yours" I continue.

"No, you can't." He stops me.

"Yes, I could use my family's company income and help you" I tell him.

"I don't know, I can't do that to you nor your company" He sighs in frustration

"What about we use our sponsors and do the photo shoot people will buy and we split the money" I suggest.

"That won't be enough" he strictly says,

"We can also have fundraisers like cake sales or a photobooth, just trust me, it will work" I suggest once again.

He takes a few moments to process what I said and then he replied,

"Deal."
