Here we were, for the first photoshoot of the week, Jane went to do classes in her university so I travelled by bus. The movers my dad sent were setting up the first art piece, a painting, it resembles a woman dressed in a long white cloth and had long black hair. After they finished setting up, Simon then directed his crew to take the photo.
After the first photo was taken, the movers came again to set up the next piece. I was supervising the movers when Simon pulled me aside,
"Why do you have to be like that?" He asks
"Like what?" I ask him
"So.... beautiful" He says slowly.
I frowned. What is up with him, I ignored him and walked up to the movers, the current piece was a uniquely sculpted vase. It was painted with blue abstract lines that represented vines and light blue flowers.
As they were preparing to take the picture, Simon pulled me aside again,
"You don't know how much I hate you for what you did" He says to me
I know exactly what he was talking about, he was talking about when I didn't acknowledge his love for me when we were in our teenage years but my love for art was above all living man.
"I don't think you know how sorry I was but then you shut me out" I replied.
I couldn't stand here much longer thinking about that. I walked back towards the others and looked on although I could feel tears filling my eyes so I tried to look down to avoid eye contact. I was suddenly handed a wipe, I looked up to see Simon. I thankfully take it and he puts his arm around my shoulder while I wipe my tears.
I continue to shout instructions for the movers to place art pieces. At the end of the day, it was Simon and I in the studio, we sat down and had some coffee and I decided that it was the right time,
"Simon, I'm sorry, I should've acknowledged you when I had the chance and because of that mistake, I hurt you along with me, I hope we can rekindle a friendship" I say.
"Yeah, I'm sorry for yelling at you at the train station." He also says.
We ended up having an amazing conversation despite our arguments at the meeting. He explained to me what he did after he left on the train and how he ended up as the CEO.
It turns out that his father put the company in huge dept that threatened the life of his family but instead of trying to fix it, his father committed suicide. He said he just came home from leaving the train station when he found his dad lying on the floor. Apparently, his dad poisoned himself and left a note explaining.
I couldn't have felt more bad for him, not just that I hurt him, that he left me and arrived home just to see his father dead. His mother and father were separated so his mom lives with another man in Italy.
The next morning I showed up to his office to drop off some files and with a cupcake just for my apology. I knock on the door and he opens it,
"Hey, I got this as a apology gift" I say
He looks at me with disgust and takes the cupcake and puts it in the garbage.
"That's not your job to get me something, do your actual job" He says sternly.
"Well umm, here are your files" I say softly.
He snatches the papers and shuts the door in my face. What is his problem?
