Shane's POV
I was a nervous wreck as today would be the day I would meet Beatrice's parents, King Ben and Queen Mal of Auradon. My five-year-old body was shaking. I felt Beatrice's purple hair that she got from her mom, Mal tickling my cheek. I had a huge crush on Beatrice, and she felt the same way. We were both the same age. "I'm kinda nervous to meet your parents, Bea," I said as I used my nickname for Beatrice. Beatrice's hazel eyes that she got from her father, Ben, were locked with my brown eyes. This was our last day at summer music camp, Camp Rock. "Don't worry, Shane, I sent my parents a letter saying how awesome you are and how great of a singer you are," Beatrice replied. "Can I see the letter?" I asked. Beatrice nodded as she handed me the letter. The letter read: "Dear Mom and Dad, I have something I want to tell you. I like a boy named Shane, and I think he's really cool. He sings so beautifully and he's nice, and I hope you'll like him too! Love, Beatrice 🌟". "Awe, Beatrice, that's so sweet," I said as I read her letter. "And mind you don't call my parents majesty they HATE it just call them, Mal and Ben ok?" Beatrice replied. I nodded, I wanted to sing my song 'Gotta Find You' for Beatrice's parents. "You're the voice I hear inside my head, the reason that I'm singing, I need to find you. I gotta find you!" I sang for Mal and Ben as I wrapped my small arm around Beatrice's small frame. "Awe, ok! Shane, you are perfect for our daughter," I heard Ben say. A wave of relief washed over me. They liked me! I felt buoyed by their acceptance, and I looked down at Beatrice, who continued to smile widely. It was an unspoken promise, a budding friendship that was blossoming into something more, no matter how young we were.
