Chapter One

This is my first posted work, so I apologize if it's really bad. I'm going to try to regularly update, but I can't promise anything.

Zari woke up to the sound of a hair dryer blowing loudly in the bathroom across from her open room. At five am. Her twin sister Adrianna was already getting ready for school, the school they didn't have to leave for until around seven. It was useless to go back to sleep, she was wide awake now, so she headed to the downstairs kitchen for breakfast. Her younger brother Behrad was already at the table eating donuts when she walked in.

"Hey Z. Adri wake you up too?" He said, sliding the plate of frosted donuts- because two people of the family were obsessed with the pastries -to Zari when she sat across from him.

Zari grabbed a pink frosted, sprinkle covered donut from the top of the pile. "Thanks, but yes, unfortunately. Now I get to wait for an hour before having to actually get ready for school. I guess that's good, considering how much that girl hogs the only bathroom."

Behrad snorted at her words before taking another bite out of his chocolate donut. "We could always invite Nate over to play video games. He's only a block away, and god knows that guy doesn't sleep."

"True. I'll text him after I eat another donut, these are good."

Nate sat atop his bed, playing a game on his black laptop. It was 5:23 and he hadn't slept the night before. It was too late now. His phone buzzed from next to where he sat, and he paused to look at the message:

Zari
Adri woke me and Behrad up again, want to come play a couple rounds of Mario Kart before school?

Nate
Sure, but how did you know I'd even be up? You do realize it isn't even 5:30 yet, right?

Zari
You freaking idiot, you haven't had a normal sleep schedule since before middle school started
There was no way you'd actually be asleep. Now do you want to come eat donuts and play video games or sit here questioning my genius mind?

Nate
Give me five minutes

Looking up from her phone, Zari relayed Nate's reply to her brother."Okay, he said he's coming.
Five minutes, but I doubt it'll take that long. He probably thinks he has a chance of beating me for once. At this point it should be common knowledge that Baby Rosalina beats everyone."

An obviously faked glare was sent Zari's way, and Behrad muttered, "We'll see about that.
Tanooki Mario's about to show everyone how it's done. Baby Rosalina and Steel Mario are toast."

With a devilish smirk, Zari stuck her tongue out at him and then swiped the plate holding the rest of the donuts. A second before Behrad was about to grab one. 'THAT IS JUST A CRIME! YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN ANYONE YOU DON'T STEAL ANOTHER PERSON'S DONUTS!" He lunged for the plate, but Zari hopped to higher ground in the form of the granite counter.

At that moment, with Behrad trying to get on the counter with his immense lack of agility, Adrianna came down the stairs. "What's happening down here, a war?" Her hair was already dried and in curls that made it look like she had small braids throughout her entire head, and she was already dressed in an outfit that followed the latest trends.

"I mean, kind of. If a war over donuts is possible." Zari was the first to notice and verbally respond to her sister's presence. Said sister just sat at the table and started tapping her phone screen repetitively. "We would have still been sleeping if you didn't wake up at the crack of dawn just to post videos and pictures all over social media. I still don't see what you find fun in that new app everyone's raving about."
