Alex and I headed to the empty table when I felt my phone vibrate as we sat down.

them where I was going or who I am meeting with - Y/N

"Y/N? You ok?" Alex said getting my attention

"Yeah I'm fine. Don't worry about it. Just received a message from my boss." I said

"Oh, do you need to leave now?" He asked

"No, they just asked me to buy things before I go home" I lied and just shifted our conversation to our High School experience and the random things we did back then where we used to get in trouble alongside our friends.

"Guess I suddenly left without saying goodbye huh?" He said when he noticed my sad reaction when we started talking about the year he left

"Yeah, you did" I said with a sad tone and contemplating whether I'll tell him about my feelings now or not

"There are a lot of things that happened back home when you left" I started

'Well here goes nothing' I said to myself

"Yeah? Like what?" He asked

"Well, for starters all of your fangirls from both our juniors and seniors were sad that you left" I said which made both of us laugh

"And we were just shocked that you left without saying goodbye" I said repeating what he said a while ago

"Yeah, sorry about that. I couldn't do anything back then since my parents were the one deciding for me" He explained

"It's fine, we understood your situation back then. Since you did tell us about your family... some of our friends were joking about looking for you and all" I said trying to lighten the mood

"But I think most of all we just missed you" I said "I missed you" I whispered

"What was that?" He said looking at me

'Here goes nothing'

"Alex, I have something to tell you... when you left, we were all bummed about it. I was confused and pissed that you didn't tell us. I was upset and I didn't know why. Maybe it's because I lost my best friend and have no idea if we're ever gonna see each other again. It took me a long time to realize it and I was in denial about it to the point that you have to leave for me to actually acknowledge it. Uh... I'm rambling but the bottom line is—Alex, I liked you and it took me a long time to acknowledge it because I was afraid our friendship would end. I wasn't able to notice other guys because of how strong my feelings were for you. But now, I am telling all these to you because I don't want to continue thinking about the 'what ifs.' You don't have to reciprocate my feelings but please don't leave me hanging."

I was looking at my drink explaining all these and finally looked up to Alex to see his reaction. He was looking back at me and I have no idea what he is thinking about

"Alex? What are you thinking about?" I said trying to break his silence

"You liked me?" He said slowly "Liked past tense for the word Like, so does that mean you don't like me anymore?" He added looking at me
