The icy chill creeping into his bones as he stared at the stark white walls that stretched endlessly before him. Sitting stiffly on the cold metal chair of the dimly lit hospital corridor hummed softly around him, broken only by the faint footsteps of nurses and the distant beeping of medical equipment. The sterile scent in the air brought back unpleasant memories, only deepening his dislike for hospitals.

Heeseung hated being here, where the bad memories far outweighed the good. His phone rested in his cold hands, its screen glowing faintly as it displayed a live feed from the security camera at the Lee mansion's entrance.

Time dragged on painfully, each passing second intensifying the emptiness in his chest. He hadn't wanted to leave Sunoo, not after seeing the hurt in his beautiful eyes, but he had to. Sunoo had looked so fragile, so anxious.

Minutes felt like hours until finally, a familiar car appeared on the screen. Heeseung's breath caught as he watched it pull into the driveway, every nerve on edge. When the car door opened and Sunoo stepped out, weary but composed, relief washed over Heeseung, nearly making him dizzy.

He exhaled slowly, the tension in his body easing just a little. His omega was home, safe, and that was all that mattered for now.

He watched as the driver waited for Sunoo to get inside safely before driving away to the parking lot, just as Heeseung had instructed.

Leaning back against the cold metal, Heeseung felt the headache throbbing in his skull. He closed his eyes, wishing he could be at home with his husband.

The sound of hurried footsteps made him open his eyes, meeting the gaze of the person he had been waiting for.

"Mr. Lee,"

Greeted the old man-his father-in-law. Dressed impeccably as always, but that did little to soften Heeseung's opinion of him.

"Mr. Kim,"

Heeseung replied with a nod, rising from his chair and standing tall before the older man, easily towering over him. His expression returned to its usual, distant demeanor.

"How is she-how is my daughter?"

The man asked, worry evident in his voice, a concern reserved only for family. Of course, Heeseung knew that didn't include his omega.

"She's stable now, just sleeping as the doctor said. You can speak with him yourself,"

Replied the younger flatly, pocketing his phone and retrieving his car keys, ready to leave. The older man quickly moved to stop him.

"Are you leaving already? I'm so sorry for the trouble and thank you so much for bringing my daughter to the hospital. If it weren't for you-I can't even imagine..." the man trailed off, taking a deep breath before continuing.

"It would be nice if I could offer you something as a token of gratitude. And you two are friends, right? It would mean a lot if you visited again when Danyi woke up. She'd be happy to see you."

Heeseung almost laughed at the man's audacity, pretending as if nothing had happened six years ago, as if they were still close. He smiled, a cold, empty smile that masked his true thoughts.

"I appreciate the offer, but I must decline. It's late, and if you don't mind, I'll be leaving now-my husband is waiting for me,"

Heeseung replied, making sure to emphasize the word "husband" as he locked eyes with the older man, enjoying the way his eyes widened in shock.

With one final nod, Heeseung turned and walked away, leaving the man frozen and speechless behind him.
