I park the car near the church and then look at the rear view mirror. The car with security followed us in camouflage only because Amara hates it.
"You really didn't have to come along with me," her words slip out as we climb out of the car. Her features might show she wanted to be alone but her eyes looked for someone to be with. And that someone will always be me.
"Yes but I wanted to be here." With our fingers entwined, we reach the gates.
"I am remembering her after a really long time." She confesses as we step through the gates. "I was angry at her for leaving me alone."
She tilts her face to look at me. I could see fear of judgment in her eyes. "You might think of me as a bad person."
I give her hand a gentle squeeze. "Absolutely not." I sigh and wrap my arm around her while we walk down the narrow stoned path that had grass on both sides of it.
We take slow steps in the church and walk to the front. I look at her and she folds her hand and closes her eyes to pray. I look ahead and copy her gestures.
I already have what I want. I just want this to stay like this forever.
"Can we seat here for some time?" She whispers and I merely nod at her. We take seats in the wooden benches and she reaches for my hand and places our entwined hands on her lap.
"Do you remember your parents?" All I see is fire whenever I try. Nothing but wild fire and then drowning water. I shake my head with a sigh.
"And you?"
"The only memory I have of her is dancing with her and the next minute, she is gone. Don't know where, just gone."
"Gone?" I feel her clench my hand tightly. "Dad told me she died of a terminal illness,"
"Thanks for sharing," I tell her with a grateful smile.
My phone buzzes and I tense in frustration. "We should go now." She advices and I nod.
The minute we step out of the church, my phone buzzes again. I take my phone out and see one missed call from Mihir and then a message from Vikram Bhai. I straighten up in anticipation when I read my brother's name.
"What is it?" Amara asks with curiosity.
"Vikram bhai has ordered to come home tomorrow evening."
I turn and stare at her face. "He has called us both."
