Flashback
Amara unlocks the red door after walking by the small garden of the house. She gulps down a big breath to face what's inside.
A monster she wants to run and hide from. But can't because she doesn't know where else to go, doesn't have anyone except herself.
Something rattles in the house as she steps in. She crosses the front hall and into the kitchen.
Amara notices the empty bottles before spotting her stepmom. The drunk woman lifts her head. It was barely eleven and she was already wasted.
"Oh, you are back!" She blurts out with fake enthusiasm while wiping the corner of her mouth.
"When are you moving out?" She asks Amara the same question again. Dread seeping in the eighteen year old's bones.
Her stepmom brushes her messy blonde hair back and stares at her with her red drowsy eyes. "I told you to pay me rent or get out of my house, Amara."
"But this is my father's house." The girl fights back.
She sees it before it could hit her and ducks as the bottle smashes the wall behind her. The sound hitting her ears tells how close that was.
"That man left it for me, bitch. Not for you!" She shouts furiously.
"Did you find a job?" The question comes out calm from her mouth as if she wasn't just hurting Amara a second before.
The girl shakes her head. She was out to look for one but no one had a job that just a high school diploma could do.
"You know—"
Amara fears what her stepmom has to say next. "A beautiful girl like you should never be wasted. You can still do what you did two years ago."
The memories of that night seem to crawl everywhere around her and drown her in the deepest of regret.
She shivers and trembles like a leaf as she runs to the confinement of her room. She could hear her laughing like a crazy deranged woman. Tears freely flows down her eyes, pitying her condition.

A hand closes in on her shoulder and Amara snaps out of her past with a jolt. She looks to her side and see worried faces of both Dhara and Isha.
"You okay?" Dhara asks her and she silently nods, not having the ability to form sentences.
Amara nods and looks at the mirror. She was trying out her wedding outfit for the last fitting. The wedding was just two days away.
