Him

I was sipping coffee when she stepped out of the closet. I look at her in fascination while she dries her hair, not knowing that I had my eyes on her.

She is wearing a simple red and grey lehenga.
"Don't you have to go for work?" She asks still busy at drying her hair.

I keep quiet and she turns to look at me. She flips her hair back as her gaze narrows on me. I get to my feet and walk up to her. "We are going out for shopping,"

Her eyes search my face and then she holds my hand and pulls me in the closet's direction. I try to hide how good I feel when she touches me.

"Look around and tell me what do you see?" She asks as we stop by the closet entrance. I frown as I glance around.

"Clothes," I simply tell her. She nods. "Most of them belong to me. Outfits that you have brought for me. I might be my father's daughter but I am not materialistic as him."

I look at her eyes. I realise what I had just implied. "You know about—"

"I know that my father stole money from you," I move to face her and she sighs while continuing.

"Maybe that is the reason why you married me, but I am not selfish like him, Vikram Ji." She stares at me and I know that she was trying hard to hide the tremble in her voice.

I wanted to tell her I didn't marry her because of her father but before I could tell her this, she walks away.

She was about to step out of the room when I pulled her in my arms. She stares up with surprise as I secure my arms around her waist.
"Then what should I do for you to stop behaving like this, Dhara?" I search her eyes for the answer. She looks away and I smile knowing she is getting affected by closeness.

"Apologise to me. Tell me that you are sorry—"

"Are you ordering me, Dhara?" I interrupt with raised brows. Realisation crosses her face and she blinks.

"No, yes— No, I mean. I have work," she fumbles while trying to move away. She wiggles herself out of my grip and runs out of our room. I chuckle at her astonishment.

The only good thing about our conversation in the lake house is that she is now saying what she truly wants and feels.

I look up from the file in my hand to see Dhara talking to Isha as they walk out of the kitchen. She notices me with a shocked expression.
