After the Aerialbots defeated Thundercracker and Skywarp and killed Ramjet, Dirge and Thrust, Dino, Arcee and Knockout are sent out in search of Sideswipe, who vanished shortly after making an important discovery in a South American temple system. Dino, Arcee and Knockout drives on the abandoned highways, passing small settlements and cars, whilst a fast approaching, and currently unknown bogey starts hunting him.
Said bogey turns out to be Starscream, who desperately chases the Autobots up and down the open lanes, launching missiles, planting bombs and eventually catching up to him at a bridge. He grabs the lone Autobot, and throws him through the bridge and Arcee and Knockout falling with him, into the canyon below. Dino, Arcee and Knockout awakens hours later, realizes how much time has passed, and continues moving, despite his injuries, which make transforming and weapons conversion impossible. A N.E.S.T soldier issued an airdrop to the Autobots, and the warrior starts to travel to it.
They uses their stealth capabilities to give a few Decepticon drones the slip, however, they find a temple entrance which must be opened by attacking two Decepticon commanders, whom possess the codes to unlock it. As Dino, Arcee and Knockout obtain the keys, and enters the temple, they realize that glowing Decepticon symbols line the walls, implying that Mayans built over the old Decepticon ruins.
Dino, Arcee and Knockout continues moving forward, only to encounter an Assaulter. A Cybertronian creature, akin to Decepticon Hatchet. Said creature is depicted as being able to short ciruit Dino's, Arcee's and Knockout's cloaking systems, so the Autobots stealthily hides behind walls, and ruins in order to circumvent the creature's EMP pulse. They passed by multiple patrols and Assault Fighters, before finally reaching the N.E.S.T drop. Inside, they take possession of an item that gives him the ability to both transform and use his weaponry.
An Assaulter then attacks, and nearly kills Dino, however, Bumblebee makes a sudden appearance, and kills it. The duo then move over to the actual temple grounds, where morning takes hold, and they both successfully take down all Decepticons in the vicinity. Dino's objective points him to a button on the top of the pyramid, which he activates, prompting an Enforcer to jump out, attacking the dual Autobots.
They fight it, and without extraneous armor or abilities, it falls rather quickly, which then causes the pyramid to fall in on itself, which releases a sarcophagus containing Sideswipe, who is obviously happy to be free of the trap. The five Autobots hold off until a N.E.S.T airstrike finishes off any remaining Decepticons, and then the trio head into the temples multiple open corridors, with Mirage, Arcee and Knockout having to cover Bumblebee from sniper fire multiple times.
They travel throughout the temple, destroying Decepticon drones, snipers and Assaulters, before making their ways to the launch pad Sideswipe found earlier. Starscream then attacks the five Autobots, using his aerial alt mode to gain an advantage over the Autobots, all while calling new Decepticon soldiers to assist him. Eventually, despite all Starscream's firepower, he's overpowered and eventually flies off, but not before proclaiming his victory in the form of the rocket's launch, which then flies off world, into space.
