A Sweet Box Of Annoyance

Chapter Four

In a week, it would be Valentine's day. I am not going to say that I hate Valentine's day because I don't really hate it. I just don't like all the relationship things. Like the fact that girls are waiting for their boyfriends' to get them a gift and if they don't it somehow proves how much their boyfriends' care about them. So meaning everything except for the candies and the chocolates. The day after Valentine's day is my favorite because of all the candies that are on sale. In fact I pretty much like any holiday that I can get chocolates on sale. That is the only reason why I love Valentine's day.

I was telling Alejandro about my hatred of Valentine's day and he just smiled at me. In that week, I was with him a lot more than I usually and because of that, he touched me less. I would always catch him looking at me. I think that I liked him more when he was touching me. No never mind they are equally annoying. He gave me a look like he wanted to tell me something but couldn't. What that was I could not guess. So by Friday, he was starting to drive me crazy with that look.

So I finally said to him in the nicest way possible, "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"What do you mean?" And he gave me his confused expression that he always gets.

"You're always looking at me or touching me. It's starting to get weird."

"So I can't be affectionate with you?"

"Not if you're going to act like a..."

"Like what?"

"Like a creep... that likes me."

There I said it! Because to be honest he was fucking driving me crazy. He's normally an annoying ass and I can deal with that but not the new him.

"Of course I like you. You're my friend." I just dropped the subject because it wasn't worth me time and me getting arrested for stabbing him with a pencil.

That night, I was trying to resist going on snapchat and it was working. When Gabriela messaged me on snapchat. Well, I guess I have no choice but to answer it. What happens if it's an emergency. I have to check it. So I did and Gabriela said, "Is it just me or is Alejandro acting weird?"

Ok maybe it wasn't an emergency but it was important. "I know right!!"

"I just wanted to tell you. I am still doing my homework so bye."

"Bye!"

After we said goodbye I continue doing my homework.

It was a week after Valentine's day and Alejandro didn't do anything. On Monday, I finally found out what he was planning. In the morning I was in the cafeteria eating a chocolate chip cinnamon roll. When he walked in with a red box.

Went he got closer, I asked him what was in the box that he was hiding behind his back and he answer me be putting the red box on the table and saying, "Happy Valentine day!"

I looked at him for a couple of minutes and then I looked down at the box. The box was red with small gold flowers on the side of it and on the top, it had a red bow on it. The box was a box of chocolates but not just any chocolates it is Lindor.

"I ate half of them."

"Thanks for the chocolates but why did you eat half of them?"

"I got hungry on my way here." He said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why did you do this?"

"I don't know."

"You don't know why you bought me a box of chocolates just so you can eat it all? Sorry I mean half of my box of chocolates?"

"It was on sale and you said that you like candy. I wanted to do something nice for my friend."

"Okay?! You probably saved me 20 dollars so thanks for that."

"And my thank you?"

"Why should I say thank you if you ate half of it. I'm saying half of a thank you."

He sat down on the chair that was right in front of me and says, "How is that fair? I bought you chocolates from the kindness of my heart and you are not going to say thank you. That really hurts me."

"Okay!"

"Okay...?"

"You're welcome." I grabbed my stuff and left with my chocolates.

I just walked away from him. I really think that I am getting over him.

The rest of the day was boring. So when I got home I was surprised to see that Alejandro was calling me. I deciding to answer his call. "Yes?."

"What is wrong with you?"

Smiling I said, "Nothing why?"

"You're so hard to understand." I could hear the annoyance in his tone but why I didn't know.

"What are you talking about."

"One minute you're all over me and the next you're not. Athena, you're fucking annoying." I was getting pissed off so I said in a sarcastic voice.

"Sorry for not being 'all over you'. But the last time that I checked I wasn't the person that was all over you. I think you were trying to call Chloe or Bethany. Try one of their numbers." And I hang up.

I was so pissed off that I did my homework and because of that, I got all of the answers wrong. At school, he knew that I was pissed so Alejandro left me alone for once. It was a good thing to because he knew that I would probably try to stab him. The only problem with avoiding people is that teacher's don't know about it. I succeeded in angry avoiding him until the last period of the day. We were in English when my English teacher told as that we would have to work in teams. Everyone was happy and excited until she added that she would be choosing the teams.

"Okay, so I had a brilliant idea." She said that with the biggest smile on her face.

"I'm pairing everyone by the first letter of your names."

At that moment I knew that I would have to work with Alejandro because we were the only once with A's. Let's just hope I don't kill him.

In the end, it was ok and I didn't kill him because everyone would see it. But I have decided not to stab but strangle. It's less bloody and I don't hate him as much as I did anymore. As I said we are 'Okay' but the teacher might have seen that I was doing all the work. Let's just say she was not too happy with me.
