Lin and Sarah entered the hospital with coffee in hand a little while later. Lin sighed as she headed to the front desk to inquire about her mother and her location so she could go see how she was doing.
“Lin? Linette Harper ?” A voice came from behind her.
Lin turned around to see who, “Chad?” she asked, confused. “What are you doing here dressed in scrubs?”
“I work here!” Chad informed her.
“Well, that’s...frightening. You don’t do surgery by any chance, do you?” Lin asked.
“I’m a nurse’s assistant,” Chad told her.
Lin breathed a sigh of relief.
“So I hear you’re not with Kath anymore.”
“Um, yeah that’s been a while now, Chad,” Lin shook her head and continued to try to walk away from Chad.
“You’re welcome, by the way,” Chad called out to her.
“What?” Lin stopped and turned around, confused.
“You know, if it weren’t for me rejecting her that night at her New Year’s Eve party, she would have never fallen into your arms,” Chad told her.
Lin laughed. “Oh, is that how it went?”
“Yeah, you were there! Don’t you remember?” he asked.

“Come on, Linny! You’re taking forever! Who you trying to impress tonight?” Lin’s cousin yelled through the door of the bathroom.
“You’re lucky I’m taking you with me tonight, Sarah! Would you rather stay and hang out with my mom?” Lin laughed as she opened the door.
“Damn, girl, really though, who are you trying to impress?” Sarah said as she looked her cousin up and down.
Lin wore dark washed jeans and a blue button down shirt.
“Is it too dressed up?” Lin said, pulling at her shirt.
“Nah, it’s New Year’s Eve! Besides, you’ll definitely impress her in that outfit,” she winked.
Lin playfully pushed her cousin. “Let’s go!” she said as she led her down the stairs and out the door.
Lin and her cousin pulled into Kath’s driveway. Lin let out a sigh.
“You okay?” Sarah asked.
“Totally!” she said as she got out of the car and headed for the door of the homestead.
Lin turned the door handle and pushed the door open, looking over the room as she entered the house. She noticed teenagers throughout the living room. Her eyes quickly found Kath, who was sitting on the edge of the couch. She smiled at the girl as she looked up at her. Kath quickly got up from the couch and made her way into the kitchen. Lin looked confused, but quickly found her way to Rose and James, who were sitting on the couch where Kath was.
“What’s up with her?” Lin asked as she joined the other two.
“Who knows,” James shrugged. “Who’s your friend?”
“I’m going to go check on her,” Rose told them as she walked away.
“This is my cousin, Sarah. She’s staying with us so I told her she could tag along,” Lin laughed. “Sarah, this is James.”
